4-1 opening round.

Miami -2' **** I've said it before and I'll say it again, Charlie Coles always has the Redhawks at their peak when they arrive at the Gund. Ball State was fully extended in defeating the Zips monday night, and will find the Miami defense and offensive board work tough to handle. Think the 'Hawks cover this low number.

Toledo- Buffalo over 152'. ** Though I usually lean stongly to unders in tourney play it is tough to make a case for this one to not go over. both teams have solid guard play and are at their best when running. Last game was a track meet and I expect the same to occur once again.

W Mich -11' Broncs are in my mind the class of this league ( I know I'll get arguments) and get a chance to prove it against the Herd, who just can't seem to get it done on the road.

BG +8 Two teams coming into the gund way off form. Cant remember the last time Kent or BG covered a spread but it has been a while. I'll take the points in a small play.

GL to all.

i keep going back and forth on miami (for the exact reason you mentioned: coles being one of the best conference tourney coaches in the country). only thing i dont like about miami lately is that theyre shooting too many 3s. theyre at their best when they get their backcuts and get something going TOWARD the basket. johnson is the key. if he gets going, miami wins with no problem. ill probably end up followin you on this one.

i think youre right with the wmu play. obviously we differ on who we consider to be the elite team in the league. although kent is #1 imo, wmu is certainly #2. i really think both teams (wmu and kent) win going away in this round. kent always seems to cruise on the thursday tourney game. and wmu just has too much offense for marshall. herd might try and slow this one down, but even if they do that- theyre just not good enough.

very very nice, especially the night games. you were right on the money. there were so many fouls in the toledo game that it was an over right from the start. real nice job
