Thanks for the "joke". It was a laugher tonight.
This basketball forum (NCAA, with a little seepage into the NBA), has been a profitable resource for me at this time of year in 2002 and 2003, and even more so this year. Quite a few cappers were white hot in the 2002 conference tourneys, especially the early rounds, and it continued into the NCAA and NIT; 2003 was nowhere near the same sort of "slam dunk" experience, but I came out a little ahead. This year has been a lot closer to 2002, and your friend, the "clown", has been feeling it pretty good. The number of plays has been mind-boggling, but even more noteworthy, I've felt time and again at the end of the game that I was riding on the right side or a solid side in a surprising share of the bets that lost.
What goes up usually comes down, but it's nice to be way up when it happens. And as I said in your earlier thread, "let's be careful out there, whether you're handicapping the games or handicapping the capper" (which begins with handicapping my own patterns and techniques and streaks and mistakes and moods and such). Having said that, I guess I'll add that it's been my experience that what's working when someone is in a sincere groove doesn't usually vanish in less than 24 hours, and further note that in most sports the postseason is an opportunity for the most in form cappers to shine, which is why I was confident (but stressed) when I went along on a 14-13-1 run a few nights ago, without panic that I was walking into a 6-22 blitz, even with a boat load of NBA plays that just might turn brutal in the blink of an eye.
It's taken me three years to feel comfortable wagering any real money on a sport I wouldn't pretend to cap on a regular basis. This is the forum to be at this time of year, but whether it's December or March, I don't just pop in blindly, without first feeling my way through for some trends, insights or consensus to justify pulling the trigger. There are plenty of righteous cappers posting here all the time that I should thank, but I'll just single out Box and One as being my biggest lean this season. That is until a few nights ago, when I guess I got lucky taking a chance with Hellah and his friend.
