I have to admit up front that I have never watched a team from the Atlantic Sun conference play. On paper Belmont appears to me to have significant value tonight as a 5 point road dog. The Bruins's resume includes a 10-5 road record, victories over Mizzou, Air Force and tonights opponent Austin Peay. I would think that Belmont would be pleased with the idea of extending their season despite the NIT road trip.

I'd like to get a local take from someone who is close to the program or conference to confirm I'm on the right track.

Anybody?:)

from the team website:

After falling in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Championship to eventual winner UCF, the Bruins stand at 21-8 overall this season, the most wins since the move to Division I prior to the 1996-97 campaign. A strong non-conference schedule combined with an impressive 15-5 run through the A-Sun set up Belmont for their first postseason invitation. Among the team?s impressive non-conference victories were a 46-38 home win over Mountain West champs and NCAA Tournament participant Air Force, a 71-67 upset of then #22 Missouri on the road as well as regular season home wins over Austin Peay and UCF.

?The way we got in was by playing a difficult schedule and having some success,? commented Byrd. ?The wins over Air Force, Missouri and Austin Peay were really important. Playing that schedule, which is similar to the ones we?ve played each of the last seven years, has paid off this season and their committee recognized that aspect of our team.?

Four of Belmont?s eight losses were by just two points while each of them with the exception of the season opener with Vanderbilt were a one possession game with less than two minutes to play. Notable among Belmont?s losses were a six-point defeat at Memphis and a two-point loss to A-Sun regular season champs Troy State.

Thanks for the followup Loop, It's most apparent that the Bruins can play a little ball. Also nice to know that they will not be lacking in motivation when they take the floor tonight. The more I look at this one, the more I like it.

The line is now up to 6' , so everybody is on Austin Peay. Ignoring the red flags, I will now turn this into my 100 star mega NIT play of the year. Just jokin' :D but will double my play on the Bruins tonight.

Hi G, to be honest I did so damned well on the Mac tourney I decided to relax for a bit, I was burned out. I spent more time on todays card than I have in a week, and am now starting to work on tomorrows card. Hope to have something up a little later.

As always, best wishes to you

Thank you DJ, same to you on your fine half time plays, hell of a run that you are on.

I did real well. I lost my play on the Bruins earlier in the day but played them large at the nicer number. Also lost a small half time play on them but cashed on my other 3 plays tonight.

I'm very well bastioned going into tomorrows action. Just need a few more winners.

continued success to you:)
