man, im not liking wmu getting all this exposure. the "underdog" role has gone from western to Vandy. Now its like Vandy has the chip on thier shoulder. in fact...WMUBronco98 from broncosillustrated.com said it best...

At the beginning of the week I was predicting an upset of Vanderbilt and we would also upset the round 2 winner. However, After 90% of the media world has predicted us to win, combined with being a favorite in Vegas, combined with Toledo and Kent State getting embarrased by teams they "should have" beaten in the NIT, I'm changing my prediction.

I think we're going to lose this one. If we truly had the "underdog" role and we could possibly be overlooked then I think we'd come out on top. The UT and KSU losses are big -- I think the MAC might not be as strong this year.

The media has adopted us as their darling cinderella team, and honestly I can't remember the last time the media was right about their cinderella picks in years past.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just have this bad feeling.

hellah:

i would have to agree. now having said that, i STILL think western michigan is the right side. i just wont be betting it. you and i both agreed they got a great draw as soon as we saw the brackets released. but theyre not 'under the radar' anymore. of course, manhattan was very much a chic pick today by bettors and pool-players nationwide. and they still got it done. but i just dont like wmu laying points. not because theyre not capable of winning. theyre better than vandy. but like posted about- that chip on the shoulder of vandy scares me

(side note: i dont agree with that guy saying the mac was down this year. kent and toledo had NIT clunkers, but that doesnt erase what they accomplished this season as a whole. wmu dominated a good league)

the way I see it is like this...

We got Ben Reed...Mike Williams...and Anthony Kann. I dont think Vandy has anybody that can cover Williams or Reed. Kann against Przybyszewski worries me a bit. Kann will be giving up about 5 inches...Im just hoping Western doesnt go away from the fast tempo gun em up type of game they love. If they let Vandy decide the tempo...might be a long day for MAC fans. Im gonna throw another unit on Western tho...If they lose...then me and my new lovely avatar will go down with them

this thread was all i could think of in the last 6 minutes of the game..

congrats Vandy backers...

gman, I dont understand what Kann was doing. I dont think he realizes that he`s going up a 7 footer...and not AJ Shallabarger

your frustration with the strategy in this one was tantamount to my frustration with kent state going completely away from their strengths in the mac title game.

wmu far better than they showed today.

saved money by staying away, but nevertheless puzzled by the way it played out
