VANDERBILT +9 - While Connecticut is playing some of the best ball in the country, this line seems grossly inflated to me given the quality of this Commodores team. Vanderbilt is now 23-9 S/U on the year, winning their games by an average of 9.0 points. One knock against them over the years is that they have been a poor road team, but the are starting to change that image as they are now 6-2 S/U in their last 8 games away from home. They showed some grit in their near-miraculous comeback win over a good North Carolina State team on Sunday, and they have the perimeter shooters to shoot over this tough Huskies defense. In fact, Vandy may be the best outside shooting them that Connecticut has seen all season. Yes, the Huskies won the Big East Tournament and have looked impressive in the first two rounds of this tournament. However, none of the teams they have faced during this run was capable of hitting their outside shots, and we feel that Freije & Co. will draw the Connecticut defense out a bit in this game, taking them somewhat out of their element.

I've been watching vandy all year. No way they stay in the number with this UConn team. Vandy was down DD in their last game to NC St before that massive comeback. I see the same thing happening without the comeback. Just my .02

The teams that give Van trouble seem to be teams that are hitting their three's. It seems odd that a team that shoots the three as much as Vandy can't seem to guard the perimeter better. The last loss they had was to Fla who had one of their best three point days of the season. If you remember NC State built their lead on threes and when they cooled off was when Vandy came back. There are six and maybe seven players on that team that can get over 20 on a given night. A great example of their ability to score is the fact that Frizge has had only one good game out of the last 6 and they are still winning. The key will be Moore who is very streaky. If he is on then Vandy will never be out of it. If he and Frezge are both on, Vandy wins. And then they have Dawid (I won't try to spell his last name). 7'2" and can go in or out and is becoming a pretty good rebounder. Just not quite as tough as he needs to be. If he is on too Conn is in for a very disappointing night. Good luck

By the same token, Vandy was UP BIG in the 1H against NC State. ;) I do like UConn to advance, however, but -9 is a lot of points.
