georgia tech moneyline (+180) over kansas
duke (-7.5) over xavier

womens: louisiana tech moneyline (+300) over duke

*kansas has been lights out the L3 games. i just think this is a huge step up in class for them (when compared to their #13/#12/#9 road to the elite eight). obviously jayhawks pseudo-home court needs to be accounted for, but georgia tech has some very big wins on their resume this year and theyre not gonna be intimidated like kansas' previous opponents. i dont think its a stretch to say tech is more talented, even sans elder.

*playing anti-xavier here and basically telling them to prove me wrong. they have caught lightning in a bottle and are playing incredible basketball. but if they can not only rip off 4 wins in 4 days in the a-10 tourney, then follow it up with ncaa wins over louisville, mississippi state, texas, AND duke, then they will have achieved something absolutely incredible. just think this is too steep a jump in class for xavier.

one thing thats worth noting and could prove to be huge: although theyve gotten this far, xavier has dug themselves a double-digit hole in ALL THREE games to this point. if they think they can spot duke a double digit lead and climb back yet again, theyre insane. duke will bury them if given the chance. when all is said and done, duke wins by 12-13 in my opinion

*womens: no shame playin the womens game for my first and only time this year. this line is wacked out. duke cannot get over the hump in womens college basketball the last handful of years. perhaps they should take big game lessons from their male counterparts. line is jacked because its duke. tons of value with +300 and i dont care if its womens ball.

kansas has been less than consistent this year......and i grabbed the +5 with g.t. when it hit the board(i keep saying i`m done but i keep seeing lines that tempt me).....

but,the more i think about the elder injury, the more leery i become.....

i really think that with elder, this is a solid play...but,a day or 2 usually isn`t enough for a sprained ankle(the extent of the sprain is ?).....

i think under normal circumstances i`m with you.....the ankle, with it being your go to guy and a quick guard to boot,is enough to give me cold feet.....

i think i`ll look for a 4 and buy back....

as always, best of luck....if the sprain is very minor and not an issue,i really like your chances here....i`m gonna back off,though...

Have to respectfully disagree that Georgia Tech is a step up in competition for Kansas :nono: (obviously for this tournament it is, but not overall) .... saw both games on Friday & Kansas is playing its best ball right now while GT struggled with a good Nevada team .... if you think GT is the right side then I guess it does make sense to take the moneyline though .... good luck on your other plays gman, just not that one. :D

Open mouth insert foot for me there I guess Sun, however the Kansas loss to Nevada back in early season was at Nevada & KU is playing much better ball right now .... just felt the need to throw my 2 cents worth in as Georgia Tech is definitely not a step up in competition for Kansas overall .... not trying to stir anything up just stating my opinion from someone who saw both teams play live on Friday night.

OK. But we must say this. KU played strong competition, but they have not beaten a team as good as Ga Tech this year. V Tourney teams:

Mich State W
Stanford L
Nevada L
Richmond L
Texas 2 Losses
Okie State L
TxTech W

So best win this year was home v Michigan State. While Ga Tech beat Duke at Cameron, UConn at MSG, Texas Tech, Wake, UNC twice, Md.

There is no doubt which team has faced better competition, and which has beaten better competition.

geno:

some elucidation is necessary. my bad if it was unclear. i meant that georgia tech was a huge jump up in class from the illinois-chicago/pacific/birmingham trio that kansas steamrolled through.

although it was not my original intention to imply that gatech was a step up for kansas overall, the jackets have as good a resume as anyone in the country in terms of quality teams theyve defeated.

sorry for the confusion.

Nice call, gman. I didn't think there was room for 2 Big 12 teams in the Final Four, either.

Nice call on the Georgia Tech money line gman .... my boys didn't have it today as GT took Simien's game away by collapsing on him & playing good defense .... I was obviously looking through crimson & blue glasses when analyzing this game & didn't take GT's tougher conference schedule into account enough, but really thought KU would have enough to get it done today especially without Elder .... congrats to Georgia Tech for having enough depth to overcome that for a solid win.
