I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that the team we will make money on next year is GS. They have all the pieces (if they don't trade them away) to be the Memphis of next year. They are only 5 games out of the play-offs right now but time has run out. They have the second longest winning streak in the NBA at 7 (Lakers at 8 and Mem at 6 which is pretty good company) and it's not against cupcakes. They have beat SA, Mil and Hou in this run. They spent the first half of the season thinking Van Exel was the answer but found that Speedy Claxton was. And then there was always somebody getting hurt and then Speedy went down and Nick went down again but they weren't winning consistantly with him anyway. I don't look for Van Exel to be there next year and the guys they have left will beat a lot of people. I like their attitude about finishing this season. At a team meeting last week they all agreed that they were going to play the season out like they could still make they play-offs and beat everybody they could getting ready for next year. Keep in mind that when Speedy got hurt they lost 12 out of their next 14 and are still just 5 out of the final spot. Tonight they are playing a team that is beaten. Phil has only 8 games left and are 3 games behind Bos and 3' behind NY. A loss tonight would just about end their hopes of making the play-offs. I don't believe they have the heart for it. I'll be on GS because I believe they'll give me 100% and that's all I ask.

The Warriors would have been sick this season if they kept they're franchise players like Arenas and Jamison and they're most probably going to lose Damp this summer. GL

If they unload Nick they should be able to keep Dampier. I don't think Dampier wants to go anywhere with the talent they currently have. As much as I like Jamison and Arenas I could understand the trades. If they let Dampier get away I'll have to change my thinking on them. By the way, I'll take Speedy over Gilbert. As good on offense, better on d, and smarter at running the team. Going with

GS +1'
o 173
LAL o 186 (I hate it everytime I play anything the Lakers are in).

Also like Den over and Dal under.

Good luck everyone

Dampier has said he wants to leave, who knows, that could change.

I don't take much into their 7 game winning streak. Six of the games were at home and the one road game was against the Clippers (who were playing without Richardson and Maggette). The win over Houston was a good one, but besides that, none of those wins are that impressive. San Antonio was without Duncan, Milwaukee was in a huge letdown spot having played the Lakers and then won at Sacramento the night before playing GS. The other wins were over Orlando, Clippers, and Washington.

If they lose Dampier next season, they are in trouble. Murphy can't seem to stay healthy. I like Speedy, but he also has injury problems almost every season and I don't like him as a starting point guard for an 82 game schedule. Van Exel is definitely gone and for all his problems he single-handidly won a few games for them earlier in the season. Plus he gave them a legit go-to-guy down the stretch...something they don't have on their roster right now. Richardson and Dunleavy are good young players who will only get better. Pietrius looks like a steal of this past draft, as he has the looks of a top tier perimeter defender.

I don't know how much the can improve next season, especially without Dampier. They are a terrible road team and until they can start winning consistently away from home, they won't be more than a 35-38 win type of team.
