Internet question

im over at my parents house and screwing around w/ the computer. now they have SBC_DSL, but everytime you open a new window, it comes up on Internet Explorer, not the SBC page. I also notice the connection with this is like crap. I power cycled the modem and checked all of the connections, but still same problem. I was wondering first, if anybody knew how do just get the same windows open SBC and if there is a slow connection, what else may i try. I even re-installed the SBC software and its still the same problem. I dont know what my old man does to these computers, but everytime i come over here something is always scewed up....

You can change and set the homepage under tools.
If it's that slow have you checked for spyware???

Once you have the window open put in the location for the page you want as your homepage. Than click on:
Tools
Internet Options
Right where it says 'Homepage' the page you are on should be listed, just click on 'Use Current' and that should set the homepage.

that is all fine, but still same problem. its as if his dsl was at a rate of regular dial-up. it really sucks. i think im just gonna have to get a hold of SBC, because i dont know what the f*ck the problem could be.

I just think it's that generation. My father is constantly having problems with his computer. I try to help him with ad-aware and pop-up blockers, but the same stuff that works fine on my computer just doesn't seem to function the same way on his. I am by no means a computer expert, not even close, but I try to give him basic advice, like don't open strange e-mail or certain types of e-mails etc... He just seems to always have problems, and it's not just this computer, cause he has had at least 2 and always had problems. I don't know what he does, but it is frustrating...

well you know what i noticed. he installed some Norton thing and I swear the thing has been making everything worse ever since. He turns it around and blames it on me, but i dont know, its F-upd thats all i know. and your right its so frusturating, but its like when im over there and i have nothing to do, i like to surf the web and crap, but if its like old ancient dial up, forget it. why pay a high price for a piece of crap
