General Sam Houston: You will remember this battle! Each minute, each second, until they day that you die! For there is no tomorrow, gentlemen, today, we remember the Alamo!

Conn -5 over Ga Tech ****
So much has already been said on this game. Each newspaper has broken down the game by positions.Okafor vs Big Bird,Taliek vs Jack,Flash vs BJ,etc.
Overall UConn is a better team.Frontline players of the Huskies is going to be to tough a matchup.UConn can put Boone,Armstrong,Oak and Villa on him. Both benches are solid but Ga Tech has more depth.
A lot has been said about Flash's defense,Talieks turnovers, etc.Taliek has been making those bad passes all yr.In fact all his career.Yet UConn continues to win.
Okafor isn't hurt'in physically to bad.Luke will have its hands full.
I think Ben will dominate tonite. Both teams are athletic have greyhounds have shooters, run transition, etc, etc.
But the two best players out there tonite are Oak and Ben.
I think there rebounding, defense, and Flash at his best tonite give the Huskies a 6-10 pt win.
Not a huge play because GT has played so well and Jack and co if they can keep this close have a chance....But I think Gordon is embarrassed by his defensive play and goes off tonite...
Huskies will get the ball to Oak early and maybe get Luke in foul trouble.think they pound the ball inside to take advantage of size. Then that sets up Anderson,Brown,Ben and co for jumpers.
GT will pressure the Huskie gds.on offense play a half court game to get good shots.
But Huskies will prevail and cover by a close margin.
The Alamo will be conquered by some Connecticut Yankees...

Irish, there is no greater high in life[maybe my kids being born] then going up the top of the ladder with a pair of scissors and cutting down the net.
Many moons ago I am playing the defending state champions in the region finals to go to the final four.Where at Marist College and I have just suspended my leading scorer. We have no buisness being in the same gym with this team. But somehow we upset this team. I had a kid named Laroi who hit 7 tre's because he spent the whole summer working Magarity's basketball camp.He knew the rims and court.
When we won my players grabbed the scissors from the medicine kit and began cutting down the nets.Everyone was in pandamonium.Someone got a ladder as the my players went up t one by one to cut a rung.
But then 2 NY state site coordinators ran out trying to stop us.But they couldn't penetrate the crowd around the basket.
After we cut down the net the State coordinators were furious with me.
"WE have another game coming up." Oops...I said.I forgot there was another regional game. But wait...I went into the medicine kit and took out 2 brand new anti-whip basketball nets that I hid.I gave it to the coordinators and apologized.
Just before we left my school I packed those 2 nets and said to myself.."if I win tonite,I'm cutting down those nets".
We didn't stay for the next game but I peeked in the gym on the way out and saw they put the new net up as the teams warmed up.But right in front of me was Laroi wearing that net around his neck.
Those memories and highs last forever...

beautiful anecdote, box

beautiful anecdote, box

as for the game tonight, i think uconn wins but wont count out GT--they were much too active for them in first game, but OKY back was bad, 2-10 (i think), uconn made 1-10 treys and 10-30 FTs

doubt any of that happens again; also see the aussie struggling, wont be the factor he was in OSU game

gregg :)

ps got uconn 7/1 to win it all from october, hopefully make up slightly for usc 15/1 NC in fball--ouch :(

Box,

With so much made about officiating in semis, do you think that they let them play little more, bang al ittle more tonite? Anyway we can find out who is refing tonite?

i would think they would be conscious about not effecting the outcome. If so, i think that is a big plus for UCONN. Other then Muhammad, GT does not seem to be a physical team underneath, Jack plays tough from the guard position but Lewis, McHenry, Big Bird, don't strike me as being physical. They did not back down to OS though.

I am leaning to UCONN ( 2 Big East teams in a row as champs would not hurt my feelings :D ) but am leering about there free throw shooting in final minutes.

thanks Pt gd.Not sure if oregon officials let you cut down the nets but after your great season you derserve too.
Taking Conn but not big.
I won last yr with the Cuse.Think Big east rules again.
And the irony of the above story at Marist was Paul Hewitt was at that game. The team we were playing were from Long island and they had a 5'10 D-1 gd.This kid became a great D-1 player and his schools all time leading scorer. Not sure if Hewitt was at Fordham then or Siena. But he was at the game.So where about 20 other coaches.
And we "boxed" and one this kid.I had a 6'9 kid who everyone in the world was after. In fact the other team scouted us in the regional semi's and my 6'9 had a huge game.So their defense was set up to stop him.But my 6'9 kid was so hot and cold. One nite he was unstopable the next he stunk the floor up.but they sagged on him and doubled teamed him.I had Laroi roll over to his side and get the kickout pass. And all of his 3's were swishes.
Laroi played 2 yrs at Delhi, went 4 yrs into the Army and now works for Campbell Soup in North Carolina.
That was some nite.I also lost my daughter that nite after the game.Could write a book about that one nite. But my greatest memory is "up on that ladder".
Whether is Calhoun or Paul someone will have a pair of scissors tonite..

Just walked in the house.Listened to the game on the radio.John Thompson does a great job on the radio.
Pt gd..I lost my daughter after the game in the lobby.L'box was 4 or 5 yrs old.She wanted to ride the bus back to school with me.Something distracted me and I left her.
We are on main rd and suddenly I realize she is not with me.I ran across 2 parking lots back into McCann and a friend of mind who was an athletic director was holding her hand in the lobby.
Unreal.I would of been in divorce court with that move.

I saw Anderson hit the jumper just now.
Hope they can keep this up..
