Why would you let Pettitte hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th after he has already given up 4 runs? I could see leaving the guy in if he had been pictching well....but c'mon lets put a hitter in there see if they cant get a one run lead, then throw lidge, and dotel out there to see if they cant shut the door......unreal.

exactly my point......pettitte goes out and gives up another run......this guy is the worst freakin manager in the majors, bar none.

You have a very good bullpen....use it. No sense in keeping a guy out there who is getting battered around

You stole my post at another site! Unbelievably stupid move...it's not like Pettite got rocked early and then settled down...in fact, just the opposite....stupid stupid move...

Dont even think about taking him out now, you gawd damn loser.....you made your bed now sleep in it. Leave that bastard out there to finish 7 innings like you had programmed in your head. Dont waste up the bullpen for tomorrow.......you blew this one already....:thefinger

Im still trying to get over his decision in leaving Oswalt in last night to pitch to Bonds.....I agree with you tonight also Tease

i cant agree there. today he made the wrong move. thats stupid, especially with an american league guy trying to handle the bat.

no matter what happened- leaving oswalt in was the right move. lose with your ace if youre gonna lose. astros dont have any dominant lefty in the bullpen.

Gotta side with gman here...there is only ONE decision when Bonds is at the plate...to pitch to him or not to pitch to him...once you make that decision, it just simply doesn't matter who is on the mound - lefty or righty. hard stuff or junk...I cant stand him, but he is simply the best...

gman2 and ezpickin you are both wrong on leaving oswalt in the game last nite and let me tell you why.

Williams made 2 bad moves last nite starting with letting Oswalt bat in the bot 7th with him being the leadoff hitter.Game is tied 1-1. bad move Jimmy you take ur pitcher out in that spot hoping to score a run in that inning with 3 legit hitters instead of 2 legit hitters and a pitcher. We all know what happened in that inning as the Stros score 3 times even with Oswalt leading off. It was a bad move but they bailed out Williams azzzzzzzzzz with 3 runs in that inning.

Ok Stros up 4-1 going into top 8th Oswalt has given you 7 strong innings and keep in mind Jimmy this is the 1st game of the year you wingnut. Pitchers dont have the stamina this time of the year to go 8-9 innings. You didnt burn a position player to bat for Oswalt in the 7th so take him out and leave it to the bullpen to get you 6 outs. But fuxck no Jimmy you are managing like its late Sept with the pennant on the line. Oswalt has a 4-1 lead turn it over to the pen u moron. This is why you carry 6 relievers to get you 6 outs.

2 bad moves by Jimmy W but he got bailed out of one when they scored the 3 runs. You can agree or disagree but any baseball fan will tell you Jimmy fuxcked up. Bad moves plain and simple.

theres no right or wrong answer to the situation. its all subjective and thats why we watch baseball. to a lesser extent, football has second guessing but not like baseball.

im not debating whether williams made bad moves earlier in the game.

im simply saying he was right to leave oswalt in.

game 1 or game 162.
you want to win/lose with your best.
at the time of the decision, oswalt had only thrown 94 or 95 pitches.

who do you have in the bullpen that is better than oswalt? do they have a lefty that you would say "i think he gives the astros a better chance than oswalt"

after watching the indians implode and blow the game for sabathia last night, i think williams made the right move.

the outcome has nothing to do with it.

i still think it was the right move.

Wrong move

Its not wether he had better in the bullpen than Oswalt. We all know he doesnt except Dotel. 95 pitches in 7 innings is enough for the 1st game of the year. If its the 100 game hey no prob let him pitch some more. Also im saying he should of took out Oswalt before the inning even started not take him out when Bonds comes up like some of yall are saying.

You dont trust your bullpen with a 4-1 lead with 6 outs to go? You are in for a long summer if thats the case.
