Since you are the guru of wager facts on the net I have a question for you.

I am looking for a chart that will give me an idea of how to convert a line of lets say 7-8 in baseball to a moneyline number. I understand that this means I lay 8/5 on the favorite and get 7/5 on the underdog. if it is possible to get a moneyline from these numbers. These lines are common to what is found in the morning paper. I hope I am making sense here. If you could help or anyone else it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

ok i'm going to try to explain this. i have a sheet on excel that i keep track of my bets. for some reason i want it to calculate what i will win when i put the money line in and then put in how much i bet . ok here is goes ( it took me a while to figure this out ...i'm not a great mathmatical mind.)

when betting on favs:

amount bet / ( Money line /100)

when betting on dogs

amount bet *( money line/100)

actually now that i look at what you wrote., i don't think this is what you want. but since i typed all this i'll just post it anyway. yeah now that i read it a second time this isn't what you were asking. i've had a few too many whiskeys tonight sorry

For the exasmple given:

Fave:

8/5 = X/100

800 = 5X

160 = X

Fave is therefore -160

Dog:

7/5 = X/100

700 = 5x

140 = X

Dog is therefore +140
