I have my regular plays in......but I also am going to try something new this year......Olympic offers many player versus player hitting props, and some of the favorites are HEAVY. Now maybe I am not thinking this through, but I am thinking over the course of 1 game, why would a player be a -150 or so favorite to hit more bases than another. I mean, hell, players have 0-4 nights all the freakin time! I won a Kearns over Sosa bet on opening day because Kearns got a freakin single!
I have looked up past performances and I feel I am going with some value on these. I am not planning on killing the book with these over the short haul, but I think over the long haul, these will be profitable.
Jody Gerut +120 over Shannon Stewart
(IMO Gerut has more power, and Santana has had his troubles in the spring. Dont see why Stewart the big fav here?)
Bobby Higginson +150 over Vernon Wells
(I know I am taking an inferior player here, but we have a National League pitcher making his first start in a new uniform......maybe Higgy knocks a double and we win. At +150 worth a shot.
Geoff Jenkins +140 over Albert Pujols
(Couple of very marginal pitchers going against a couple of guys that can knock 30 home runs....well Pujols probably 40, but you get my drift....another value play)
Rocco Baldelli +105 over Hideki Matsui
(A group of Yankees do NOT hit Victor Zambrano well at all, and Matsui is one of them)
Carl Crawford +120 over Derek Jeter
(Neither one with much power, so probably wont get burnt with one swing from Jeter....besides he doesnt hit Zambrano anyways)
Toby Hall -105 over Jorge Posada
(Posada is with worst of the bunch against Zambrano......easily could be 0-4 tonight)
Hank Blalock +145 over Eric Chavez
(I think Blalock hits over .300 lifetime against Mulder.......and Mulder has a back ache....enough for me)
Aubrey Huff +120 over ARod
(Another guy that hits at least .300 against Mulder.....Huff is the real deal)
Again....if these bets were over the course of a week, then maybe they would have some merit, but on any night, ANYONE can go 0-4......hell IMO all of the guys I bet on here are not scrub major leaguers.....these are toss up bets....value is key....lets see if we can turn a nice profit in a month or so
