I haven't been paying all that much attention to the Sox in the spring, but how in the hell did Schoenweiss get to be the #3 starter. I've looked and I can't find anything on this so if anyone can help me, I would really like to know. He was a pickup last fall whose only real asset was situational as he gives lefties serious problems, but he never seemed all that valuable to me given the fact that no lefties were touching Wuensch or Marte at the time he was picked up. But now he's a starter? Over the last 3 years, righties have hit .296 against him (OBP .366) compared to .212 ( OBP.276) against lefties. Seems to me that this is a guy that you want in the late innings when the match-ups will benefit you, but to put him out to take on the whole lineup . . . the whole YANKEE lineup??? Two last stats. Schoenweiss's ERA over the last 3 years as a starter 5.18 in 47 games and his spring ERA 9.31 in 19 innings. Yikes!!

And the Sox batters will be facing a righty and a pitcher that they haven't faced before which were both disasterous in 2003.

This looks to be the game that the Sox are least likely to win of the three this weekend and if it was Manuel, you wouldn't see the best out of the bullpen on Thursday, but with Ozzie, you never know. I don't think that it will matter anyway

Vazquez -1.5 (-120) 1.5 units

I couldnt agree more. Last year the Sox were brutal against pitchers they had never faced before and Schoenweiss is garbage. I think the Yankees will mop up my boys from the South Side today. I also dont think Schoenweiss will remain a starter for much of the year. The Sox have 3 solid starters but thier 4th and 5th starters will be passed back and forth to the bullpen like a giant blunt all season long.

Good luck

Bobby-

Show isn't really the third starter, Garland is, but KW wanted to break up Show and Wright for the bullpen b/c Garland is a "horse."

And I got a feeling Show is going to get pounded today. He should be out of the rotation shortly.

Marra,

Thanks for the info, I guess it doesn't matter when it's your time to go, I was just surprised to see his name. I didn't see the game, yet, but it seems like Schoenweiss came back nicely, but the righty (albeit, a good one) did them in again. Guess I'm just trying to figure out where all the young arms went??

and thanks for the props, Antonio. Like knowing that I can give something back for all the plays I steal from you.
