went to college & played athletics with many Canadian guys I called friends. Also really respect many posters at this Forum from our neighbors to the North.

Can't tell you how disgusted I was last night watching game 3 Bruins/Canadians hockey game. American National anthem was booed extremely loud through the entire anthem. Was very bad taste in my opinion.

I can't say I am in full agreement with everything this current administration has done, that said I still believe the United states of America still gives more aid and funding to humanitarian causes around the world than any other country by far.

And just wondering how others felt about this. Went to Fenway on Saturday, Sox played Toronto, Canadian National anthem was played at start of game even though I'm willing to bet there are no Canadians even on the Blue Jays, however out of respect for the "TORONTO" on the uniform the anthem is played and everyone stood and removed hats etc. out of respect.

This screaming boos throughout the anthem in Montreal was extremely poor taste in my opinion hopefully it doesn't continue.

Marty Lapointe and several other Canadians citizens have said they are deeply embarrassed to be Canadian.

This has nothing to do with booing a particular player, team, style of play, displeasure with particular official or officials judgment, it is outright disrespectful to all Americans.

In Mexico they chant "Osama" at US soccer events - you can imagine what the people of Europe think - but that's Mr. Bush for you - let's just hope we get a new President - no matter who it is.

As A VERY PROUD CANADIAN < I felt like an ass !!!!!
I have gone to the U.S. for about 35 years ( work and pleasure ) and people always say " Oh, your from Canada, what a lovely country,so nice and clean and the people are so polite !!
Well ,every time I go to Florida, I HATE to tell people where I am from. The dam rude PIGS from Montreal mostly are nothing but BIG MOUTH morons !!! They think the world rotates and revolves around them. They are NON- STOP loud mouthed IDIOTS !!!
Come to Toronto ( a city of about 3 million) and you would find only the good hearted sports "fans" that you would expect !!!
I can speak only for Spanky and myself, come over for a Bud Light ANYTIME !!!!!!!!!Hey, I'll tell ya what, the Pizzza is on us >>
Good luck in your "investments"...SPANKY :)
If that same shit happens again in Montreal, just try to laugh at a team that is on it's way out the First Round !!!

"the bunker"
the rat bastards

the rat bastards

chant osama and then stream across the border in droves......

they hate "w'....but,"w" isn`t stopping them from coming here,is he?...bush is a frickin` peach compared to salinas and ponce deleon........and fox isn`t doing any better.....

and i don`t see the french, british, dutch and germans migrating to saudi arabia, iran or yemen.....

yet they come to europe and the u.s.(particularly europe)just as fast as they can....and then scream bloody murder when THEIR customs aren`t observed......

if you hate europeans and/or americans....if you hate western civilization and it`s customs.........then stay in your beloved  native country.....

bunch of frickin` hypocrites...

gimme a break...

as far as canada goes,i have met nothing but decent, nice people from our neighbors to the north.......in my travels and on this board....solid.....

although,i think maybe some of this comes from the staunch french-canadian segment of the populace....

i know bush is hated...but i gotta say, chretien isn`t exactly a beloved guy down here either...to say the least....

i try and separate the politics from the people i know...and the canadians i`ve dealt with are aces with me.....

thanks,spanky...

I don't think it's Mr. Bush. Many countries do this and have done so for decades. Basically it's a love/hate relatiosnship. When things go bad for any reason, the U.S. is blamed (anywhere in the world). At the same time most want to live like in the U.S. (or Canada, etc.). It's the favorite tool of populist governments, even those friends of the U.S. They utilize this as a form of uniting their people or focusing away from domestic issues they are incapable or unwilling to solve. Castro has used this method for over 40 years very successfully and others have taken heed.

I recall working in Panama back in '90 after the U.S. went in to take out Noriega. Most people were grateful to me as an American for having saved them from this populist dictator ( I had no part in it, believe you me, but that's the way these people were). Still, some, the more radical would sneer at me for representing the imperialist invader. I would take neither side, but did take issue with those who criticized yet were unable to take action on their own behalf to improve their countries situation.

This attitude I have seen repeated over and over in many countries I've visited. Most are very receptive of americans in general, but some radicals mostly moved by domestic propaganda will play the blame game. And when or if the U.S. meets their demands, they laugh and call us stupid, appeasing pricks and fools. For them it's a game, it's peer pressure, a hollow victory that sustains their quite miserable existence due to poverty and lack of overall freedom.

BTW,I saw the same reactions during the Clinton administration. So it doesn't really matter who's in power.

As for the anti-war movement, it's mostly headed by the communist and radical left, who fund and organize these protests based on humanity, and peace, etc. while they have their own agenda. These same people are the ones who usually create he situations that make the war feasible to begin with.

For all the horror of the war (and it is a horror for those who haven't seen mutilated bodies in the street, blood and flesh spackling areas of streets, walls, etc.) it is impossible to stop or withdraw completely. Only the methods must be changed, not the intention. These so called freedom fighters have only one goal and that is to totally destroy anyone contrary to their narrow minded ideas and desires of total control over others. Yeah, it seems hard to believe, but it is happening in many places, closer to home than most would think. This could be World War III, only fought out in a very different way, with a very keen psychological slant to it. Make the good guy look like the bad guy. At the same time you'll see alliances never before imagined among countries with little or no similarities except for groups of control-hungry neo-authoritarians (whatever that means) in a bid to overthorw current political systems based on a false pretense of humanitarianism and the evilness of imperialist Yankees.

I know, it sounds like that movie Conspiracy Theory, but many naive will fall for it. I just wish Bush ad his people were a bit smarter and let it known a bit more what actually is happening instead of making stupid excuses like WMD, etc. But I doubt either candidate is up to the real task.

Well, that's all for now. Not too many games on tap to cap, so there goes my 2 cents for the day.

Quebec PQ, Canada
I have said this before........and I'll say it again......there's Canada...and then there is Quebec

Man you are so wrong... it's not the whole province it's just one big city full of people full of themselves. Believe me, that would have never happened in Quebec city in the old Nordiques days. Of course there's always a couple or morons everywhere in the province, everywhere in the country - well actually everywhere in the world- but please let me rephrase your sentence:

there's the province of Quebec...and then there is Montreal.

Problem is, almost half of the people here lives in or around Montreal, so it's easy to generalize.
