We should have a bite me Friday here each week. Not against each other and just short and sweet.
Bite Me CBS with your Photos.
Bite ME Rummsfeld for your lack of planning.

Jim McDermott

You remember Jim McDermott, don't you? He's the Democratic congressman (Washington State) who traveled to Baghdad to announce to the world that Saddam Hussein could be trusted, but that George Bush could not.

Quite an American, this McDermott. Well ... the other day it fell upon Jim McDermott to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the opening of the day's business before the House. And recite he did, with only two departures from custom ... and from law, by the way.

First of all, he left out the phrase "under God" in the Pledge. He also failed to put his right hand over his heart as the law requires. Well ... I guess that's exactly what you should expect from a Congressman who puts the word of a bloody dictator above that of the President of his own country. Seattle can have this jerk.

Tom Lantos

Tom Lantos is a California Democrat representing (where else?) the San Francisco Bay area. The othre day Lantos was on a panel questioning some individuals over the United Nations Oil for Food Scandal. Lantos is not happy that people are questioning the honesty and integrity of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. My chin dropped to my shoes when I heard Lantos said:

"At a time when we are placing enormous responsibilities following the handover on June 30th upon the United Nations and the Secretary General to imply dishonesty on his part is so contrary to our national interests that is simply boggles the mind."

Did the same thought cross your mind? Tom Lantos, a Democrat, sees it as fundamentally wrong to imply any dishonesty on the part of Kofi Annan at a time when Annan is facing great responsibilities in Iraq. But .... Tom Lantos, a Democrat, sees no problem whatsoever in questioning the honesty of the president of the United States at a time when he is also facing great responsibilities in Iraq.

Is this the way it is for Democrats? It's fine to impugn the integrity of our president, but keep your grimy right-wing mitts off the Secretary General of the United Nations.
