Sunday night baseball observations:
#965 Philadelphia Under 10 +117 Sparks vs Myers x2
It is a little hard to figure out my sanity with this play.
Let's look at some hard facts and some personal observations that questions my sanity.
First off, I'm not a big supporter of Steve Sparks. It goes back to his days in Detroit and has continued with the D-Backs. Arizona is only 1-3 when Sparks has started this year, and 38 runs were scored. Sparks YTD ERA is 4.36 with a 1.35 whip. Steve is averaging 6 1/3 innings YTD, going at least 7 innings L2.
Brett Myers, for Philly, sports a 0-2 record, 6.64 ERA and a whip of 1.97. The Phillies have lost 3 of four this year when taking the start. Myers has averaged has not averaged 5 innings yet this year.
The Phillies are 10-4 to the over L14.
Not exactly what you are looking for in an under play. Especially when the line has moved 20 some cents since last night to the over.
Some feeble reasons for the under:
-Steve Sparks has had a low pitch count over the L2 games, inspite of going 14.1 innings. Sparks has never faced the Phillies, hopefully a plus for the under.
-Brett Myers is coming in with a low pitch count coming in over the last two games, giving up 6 ER's in 9.2 innings against a pretty good hitting STL Cards team.
-Brett Myers last appearance against Arizona ended up 0-2.
- Both pitchers are right handers of course. The Phillies are hitting .237 against righties L10, but Arizona is .284.
-I'm counting on the BP's to produce, especially the Phillies, with a whip of less than 1.00, ERA 2.01.
- Joe Brinkman should be the HPU, 1-4 avg 6.50 runs, but his last outing against Myers produced 15 runs.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but that is some of my thinking.
