Hey Dr Strangelove...don't make the same mistake The Shrimp made a few years ago...remember this thread from here...

"How about Gladiator on a 47 FOOT screen with 15,000W Surround sound?

I can understand not liking to go to the movies. I hate going to the 10 screen stadium seating places. But, I love going to a good, well run movie theater to see something on the big screen with big sound.

There are a couple of real nice theaters in Baltimore and that's a good night out, and I don't think spending $25 on two tickets, popcorn and soda is too much. I enjoy it as much as going out and spending $80 on dinner for two.

I also think comedies are better in the theater. If its good and everyone is laughing, that's a great time.

Speaking of Gladiator, my wife didn't want to see it, so I went to catch a matinee in, let's say, an "artsy" part of town. Anyway, I was sitting by myself in the back and in the middle of the movie a guy came down my row and asked me, "Can I sit in your lap?". I was pretty pissed, but I suppose that's what I get for going to see a sweaty shirtless gladiator movie by myself.

I don't know if they have 15000W sound at most places. I know the IMAX has like a 60000W system, so I kind of scaled that down."

this feels like a BTJ post

I watched Troy........

I give it a 7.5 outta 10.......a solid movie......some great special effects and some really cool fight scenes. Worth the money to go to the theatre and watch it.

And yes it will be compared to Gladiator, Gladiator is better. But the cast does a good job in this one, oh and keep an eye out for the two dudes from Braveheart :)

I just got back from it. I thought it was absolutely terrible. Well maybe not THAT bad but since I was expecting a very good film this was a real letdown.

The fight scenes were pretty good. Brad Pitt was pretty good. But that was about it. It just seemed to drag on and on and on and on, and the last hour I just kept looking at my watch wondering when in the hell it was going to end.

Some of the historical stuff was pretty cool to see, though. Especially the horse.

Terrible is probably too strong of a word. Just terrible compared to my expectations.

It's what I call the "Fargo" syndrome. I heard from tons of people when Fargo came out that it was so great and this and that. Then I saw it, and because I had it built up so much in my mind, and disliked it so much that I know usually say it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Which of course it's not, it just was when compared to my expectations.

I must say I was quite disappointed as I expected more, thought it had its "great" moments such as the fight between Hector and Achilles. I enjoyed the scenic background shots of greece, beautifukl indeed. BUT, the best part of the film was looking at DIANE KRUGER's eyes, what a HOT babe.
It doesn't even come close to Gladiator though.

Overall, I give it a B.
