What if we found chemical weapons in Iraq?

A bunch of 'em. All sorts of stuff: sarin, mustard gas, you name it. What if we found it all? Would the media cover it at all?

I doubt it.

Reports of a bomb containing the deadly nerve agent sarin exploding near a U.S. military convoy in Iraq yesterday barely got much coverage yesterday. It's almost as if nothing at all was discovered yesterday.

And scant reporting of it today.

Must be old Saddam stockpiled weapons from a decade ago, one newspaper said. Iraqis from the old regime probably didn't know they had this old stuff, another mentioned.

It's amazing to me that the same media that jump to conclusions on a prison picture of a naked Iraqi wouldn't take the time to look at perhaps the naked truth.

Weapons might still be out there. The same weapons this president said justified going into Iraq. And the president before him insisted were still in Iraq.

It's amazing still that we cannot account for more than 100 tons of missing sarin agents. As if they all just disappeared.

I don't know. But this much I do know: A country that can bury hundreds of thousands of bodies under schools and mosques and factories and dilapidated buildings, that can hide dozens of military aircraft under desert sand, surely, conceivably, can hide smaller things, more dangerous things.

But these are not the things that interest journalists today. They get a good story, and they call it only a story.

I don't know what to make of these nerve agents. I just fear my colleagues haven't the nerve to report the day we find still more agents.

Will it be news then? I doubt it. It's a good story. Too bad it doesn't fit their story.

it amazes me

it amazes me

that anyone with even a modicum of intelligence.......anyone with even rudimentary savvy....would bang the "no wmd`s" drum a little over a year after saddam`s demise...in a country the size of california.......knowing full well that he had them....and never accounted for their disappearance....

and that those who cried "no wmd`s" for political advantage should now be raked over the coals for making ridiculous proclamations when they had absolutely no way of confirming that there were indeed "no wmd`s"......

even if no other wmd`s are ever found, the idiocy of making stupid statements without proof is beyond irresponsible....how could anyone know?....how could anyone believe this monster?....with his track record...

it`s honestly almost laughable.....and i wasn`t a big proponent of the iraq invasion.....

makes you wonder...

nice post,blitz...

With all due respect this has been my argument all along!! Bush rushed to war with no proof.

Ar182 i respect your opinion and intelligence, but does it make sense to you that a lone shell aopears this far after the "regime change took place"?

I think that this shell came from the Alquaeda terrorists who have flooded the boarders since our inavasion.

We have basically the ENTIRE deck of cards in custody or killed - by now it is clear what we torture them for information (and rightfully so) - someone would have spoken if there were really WMDs - Saddam did not sneak out of his palace at night, carry the weapons on his back and hide them by himself - if they had WMDs we would know where they are - Saddam himself would have brought us to them under torture treatments let alone of the top level people we have from his party - we were wrong - the Clinton administration was wrong and the Bush administration was wrong - they had now weapons of mass destruction.

maybe you hadn`t heard...he had chemical weapons....as the article indicated around 100 tons.....and provided no proof that they were ever disposed of...when it would have been in his best interests to do so....

now they find a warhead with several liters of sarin gas....

they found planes buried in the desert that no one came clean about....

as i said,i`m glad you are so sure...i hope you`ll come back if more "stuff"is uncovered....

my point is,if you think about it,no one can be sure....and i think they circumstantial eveidence would lean heavily toward there being something out there....

unless the stuff was shipped out of country....

we`re talking about a guy that attempted to construct a nuclear reactor........gassed his own people.....invaded neighboring countries...burned oil fields....

Neil Cavuto should stick to what fox hired him for. Finacial news. He keeps trying to stick his nose into politics and Iraq but is not very good at it. One side always. Knows very little other then What Foxs tell him to say.

My question is that if he had these weapons, in working order, as we were led to bleieve, why didn't he use them and why doesn't the media ask these questions?
