kobe never won w/o shaq

kobe never won w/o shaq

MJ never won w/o pippen, or HoGo got there

and whether or not I know anything about hoops, I'll guess after coaching for more than 30 years, I might know a tad more than you ;)

your replacement argument for shaq is self-defeating--my point is hes More valuable than Kobe b/c they WIN more, why cant you digest that bitter pill?

and the ole piss poor role players always makes me laff, with ballhogging kobe, and shaq getting his shots, there's lil chance for a legit #3-7 on LA with infrequent shot attempts; if you actually play with a guy who seldom passes, you'd understand that (GP and Mailman did a slice better last year, no?) ... Plus why do we hear all the time about Kobe's teammates and coaches getting frustrated with his selfish play, or he goes into pouting mode and wont shoot for a half?

Shaq makes 20-40 mill (whatever it is) b/c people pay the best in a sport the most; Buss and PJ are no fools, PJ said he wanted to come to the Lakers (before he even came) b/c he had jones for Shaq; ask PJ sometime who their MVP is, the word Kobe wont come out

ps I get your rips on why Shaq isnt liked, those are basic, nothing anyone doesnt know--my point maybe wasn't apparent enuff for you: I'm amused people think he's not THE MAN IN THE LEAGUE

pss a dunk from 1 ft is better than a 17' fade ;) always has been, always will be

Just some coaching pts in there for you ;)

Shaq is not paid the most in the NBA, Garnet is. Buss has publicly said that Kobe is by far his favorite and most important player for the Lakers. The GM Kupcheck has publicly said Kobe is the only player who he would NOT trade and if the Lakers for some reason wanted to trade him, he would quit his job.

your replacement argument for shaq is self-defeating--my point is hes More valuable than Kobe b/c they WIN more, why cant you digest that bitter pill?

Nope, you are wrong. If the Lakers had an inside presence, the Lakers would not be so hurt without Shaq. Your trying to claim how important Shaq is, but I am showing you his talent is not the only reason he is so important. Shaq is the only inside presence the Lakers have. Therefore if he is out, so is the inside presence. If Kobe is out, Lakers have replacements (just not as talented) but that is better than ZERO replacements for center. In addition, the forwards the Lakers have are a joke for inside play. SO basically by default, the Lakers should/would/and do struggle more without Shaq and not just because Shaq is so talented.

You forgot what your orginal argument was. It was Shaq is the best player in the NBA. He is NOT the best player in the NBA for many reasons.

and the ole piss poor role players always makes me laff, with ballhogging kobe, and shaq getting his shots, there's lil chance for a legit #3-7 on LA with infrequent shot attempts;

Thats funny, these same Laker role players are the only players in the league who shoot such a horrible shooting percentage as a group while shooting wide open shots. You also must have forgot when Kobe gave the role players all the shots they wanted against the Kings and they failed miserably. THE ROLE PLAYERS THIS YEAR FOR THE LAKERS SUCK, especially Gary Payton. These role players only take wide open shots and still fail majority of the time. They also cannot create their own shot. They are pathetic and Kupcheck failed as a GM putting the team together. Only role player for the Lakers that I like is Malone and he often struggles making open shots. Shaq and Kobe have no choice and are forced to take majority of the shots for the Lakers to have a chance at winning.

It's simple take Shaq off the Lakers squad and this team does not win three championships or potentially picking up a 4th in 5 years. He makes the game easier for everyone else on his team.

Bottom line as great as Shaq is and great as Kobe is they both need each other. At least in this system. You have to give props where props are due. To each his own.

pt1gard, your point will be driven home with a sledge hammer
in this series with the wolves, they have absolutely no answer
for Shaq, the fact of the matter is most every team would give
their left nut for that bulldozer, this will more than likely get ugly.
Hack a Shaq will be the game plan, it won't work. LA only gets
up for the prime time. Well, it's prime time. The major obsticle
is behind them. When sharks smell blood they attack. We'll see,
but I think this gets ugly. Wolves are limping into this series,
Lakeshow is rested and chomping at the bit after d fish miracle.
Those types of plays PROPEL teams to the next level. Wolves
strugle with Sac drained them physically and mentally. Not saying
it can't happen, but a Minny win would shock me.

Shaq:cool:
Height: 7-1
Weight: 350 lbs.

Ervin Johnson:lol:
Height: 6-11
Weight: 255 lbs.

Michael Olowokandi:lol:
Height: 7-0
Weight: 270 lbs.

Gary Trent:lol:
Height: 6-8
Weight: 250 lbs.

Mark Madsen:lol:
Height: 6-9
Weight: 245 lbs.

These are the guys who will be guarding Shaq. Yep, Pt1gards point of Shaq being the best player in the NBA will be proven if Shaq scores 30+pts against these guys. I disagree with you LEROY TIREBITER. Shaq has height and weight advantage over all these players. Wouldn't it be expected he would dominate? Does that make him the best player in the NBA? NO. I would say a player who is going against defenders who are same height/weight and dominates is the better player. Shaq is lucky to be in an era with very little quality big men. It is like if Kobe was going against a team who had horrible defenders guarding him who were smaller and weigh less than him. You would expect Kobe to dominate and if he did, you would not say he is the best. The best "player" is someone who can dominate the best defending him.

Maybe I am just getting senile but some of you have been watching a different Lakers team than the one that just beat Houston and San Antonio..........

I think the Lakers were very fortunate to beat both opponents.......I know its said in sports you make your own breaks but the Lakers won the first game against the Rockets when Jim Jacksons 3 missed at the buzzer...........then in game 3 the Lakers were fortunate to get a few breaks to win in OT after Houston again missed a shot to win in regulation........instead of being down 3-1 Houston could easily been up 3-1 or at the worst been tied at 2-2..........Then everyone knows what happened against SA.........that series could have easily went the other way............

I am definitely not anti LA........its just my opinion that the Lakers are not the same dominate team of the past..........of course I may be wrong..........as I have been in the past

The Lakers are not that dominant, but they are better than the rest, maybe with less depth but playing like a unit they are very good!!

And all the team were lucky, well, just pacers were dominant because theyre bracket, but detroit could easily loss against NJ in the game 6, Sac can easily loss against the mavs, and also Minny against Sac, so all the championship run is a little bit circunstancial some times, but If I should take my chances I will take the lakers, not because is my team, just because the team to beat were the Spurs and they are done! :D

Luck is a part of the game no question about that.

Robert Horry burying a three against the Kings as the buzzer sounds, Webber's three bouncing out at the buzzer, Duncan nailing a shot with .4 seconds left, Fisher nailing a shot right after, Tom Brady tuck rule, etc... you can go on and on. These types of breaks make and break teams the same as they do for people betting on the games. One or two plays go your way and you've eithered covered or you didn't.

As Shaq stated one lucky shot deserves another.

I guess the Shaqsters performance last night should be glossed
over as marginal. I don't understand an argument that on one
hand says he isn't worth a crap and out of the other side of the
mouth says well he damn well should be cause no one has an
answer for him. Does he dominate, yes he does. Can he turn a
game, yes he can. Is he the best in the NBA, who cares, does'nt
matter, they keep winning because of him. Give the guy some
credit, how would like to have to tote his frame and weight up
and down the court for 4 quarters. He is a CAT D-9, every one
else has a D-5. Rather intimidating when you match up against
him. Nuff said.
