I'm not quite 50 in good health, kids both graduated college. Wife is 5 years younger and still teaches, come June I'm gonna want to kill her when she is out school. I could get a part time job
but that ain't for me. I can only play so much golf because my bum knees. When the wife retires we plan to move and open a bar or restaurant down south. Until then? I guess I'll play cards and bet the kids inheritence on da ponies.:D

Welcome to the club. Best thing I ever did. Not sure why I waited to 61. But last 18 months have been great. I know about those knees. Hey I even wash a window now and then. But never over do it. Just one a day. My wife also 6 years younger. I keep telling her How She might hate retirement. Work as long as she can. ;)

clem,

congrats on your early retirement.

i retired when i was 42(insurance broker), but the wife didn't like me playing on the computer without doing something constructive.

so i got involved in another type of job(real estate investor) that has minimal work & made sure to give the wife her share of the loot.

now she is happy(lol).

christ, how do you guys vinny, ar182, dawgball, get retired in your mid 40s? either you make/made a high salary, lived below your means, or made very smart investments or own real estate, it's tough, My fathers turning 50 and Im in my mid 20s, he wants to retire but doesnt have the $ yet, I suppose real estate holdings and real estate income plays a big part though or owning your own business and selling it while it's hot, for those of you guys out in early 40s or 40s at all, fkin kudos to you and enjoy a lot of golf and travel if you have the money
:Yep: :Yep: :Yep: :Yep:

If I was in that situation, I would be taking about 10-12 weeks worth of hunting trips every year for starters. Your retired at that age, so I have to assume u have plenty of money coming in. Your profile says some beach, maybe a whole lot of fishing?
