Ronald Reagan was a tremendous uplifting force for our nation and his moral strength and faith are something that our nation has greatly missed since the end of his tenure. Unfortunately for us all, he is a jewel that comes along only once in a lifetime.

May you rest in peace and may God watch over your family and give them comfort in their time of grief. You were not only a great president. You were also, and more importantly, a great person.

Well we lost a great one yesterday. Not only was he a great president, but a greater man. Through his optimism he inspired America to become great again and regain our focus on freedom here at home and freedom for people everywhere.

President Ronald Reagan loved this country and the freedom that it stood for. He also admired and respected the many that died perserving our freedom in the past. He was adament in keeping our way of life and he didn't let anyone or any country change his commitment on this. He was a true patriot that loved America and the American people and he was respected and admired for his convictions, leadership, optimism and high ideals.

What a loss, even though he hasn't been "here" for 10 years, it's still so sad to know he is really gone.

God Bless the Reagan family.

While I view Reagan's tenure as a positive one, I can't consider him a great president. He surrounded himself with good advisors and he benefitted from a good economic period and the inevitable Soviet Bloc implosion.

When he first was elected, my friends and I viewed him as a humorous frontman. But he garnered my respect as time went on and I hope history treats him kindly.

where does reagan rank as president ?

i'll rely on what newt gingrich said, who has studied this:

"reagan ranks right behind fdr as the 2nd most effective president of the 20th century"

i'll remember reagan as a president who brought respect back to the u.s. & to the presidency after the country went into a malaise from the watergate scandal & the carter years.

i understand your taking to task the guys that you perceived as utilizing this situation to make political statements.....and appreciate your not launching into an anti-reagan diatribe....

i say that with total sincerity and i for one, do appreciate the effort....

i don`t think many understand the intensity...the utter depression...the monumental heartbreak of seeing someone you care about suffer from alzheimers....truly hell on earth....

i think reagan`s presidential ranking will be hotly debated in the coming months....obviously,one`s political bent will determine how highly they regard reagan`s presidency....

he was a 2 term president...many positive things were accomplished during his tenure..the fall of communism and the end of the cold war were monumental.......and there were some darker moments(iran contra for example)....as in every presidency...

i just think that any past president deserves some modicum of respect at the time of their passing....

good man,ed.....

It says alot that the first US Aircraft carrier named after a living person is the USS Ronald Reagan. I just saw a TV clip of Reagan at a university graduation speach, saying "It is times like these that make me wonder how more education would have made me more succesful. Fair winds and following seas, Mr. President.
