It ain't the Flyers. It ain't the Eagles. It ain't the Sixers. It ain't the Phillies. Could it be Smarty Jones?

Is this horse that good or are the three year olds this year that bad? Anyway, I think a triple crown winner would help a hurting industry. Like to see him do it.

Rain on the parade

I think the 2 horse, Purge, just may be able to hold him off the entire way. Nick Zito is an excellent trainer, beware.

It's so "Philly" the way this area (Philly) is rallying around a stinkin' horse.

It's a town that rally's around front runners reguardless of the sport, unlike us here in Pittsburgh who will put up with the tragedy we call the Steelers reguardless of how bad they are. When you are celebrating the 25th anniversary of your last SuperBowl win, maybe, just maybe it's time to let it go.

In reguards to Smarty Jones, as much as it pains me to agree with the resident "left or be damned" Eddie Haskell, it would be nice to see him win for the sake of the horse racing industry, in alot of places slots are the only thing keeping the tracks running and they only keep the tracks running so they can have the slots so there is no incentive for the track owners to put any money into the horses.

At least you can laugh at the Ravens for picking up your old QB...

They got fans crying on the 11 o'clock local news. Get a life, people. The local media revel in the blue collar-ness. (Nothing wrong with being blue collar, but they love to find the total idiots.)

Too bad. It was scarry watching the owner right after the race was over. Thought he was going to do a Reagan right there on camera.

That might be a good thread topic. City with the longest absence of any major championship (I don't mean lacrosse, wnba or new franchise crap). Cleveland comes to mind. Last world championship was Browns in 1964. Thats 40 years. Wow.

Philly is at 21 years with the sixers in 83. Columbus had the Buckeyes. Lexington has UK basketball. When did Louisville win the national championship? I guess I should direct this inquiry to which city has suffered the longest without any major team or individual winning a world/national championship is some major sporting event.

In addition:

1976 Reds
1975 Reds
1961 Bearcats
1960 Bearcats

Bengals never (close 1983 and 1989 but no cigar)

Thats it for the Queen City since 1960. 5 national champtionships in the last 44 years aint bad for this midsize midwestern city.

Raymond:

Some say the best alltime team in history. I won't go that far as I think its hard to compare different era's with different rules, equipment, etc. but, boy they were fun to watch. I went to one of the games against the Yanks in the 76 series at Riverfront. God, was it cold.

I remember Ceasar Geronimo batting 8th in the lineup and playing centerfield. He was batting over 300.

Bench-catching
Perez-1b
Morgan-2b
Concepcion-SS
Rose-3b
Geronimo-cf
Foster-lf
Griffey-rf

Hell of a lineup. Great fun to watch them live.
