ok............if anybody can tell me how David Blaine does his card tricks I'll move to the Neverland Ranch.

Blaine is an alien, I'm convinced

How he does those card tricks is absolutely astounding



I know how he does the "big tricks"..............but the card tricks he does on the street are mind numbing


ya see the one where he puts the card in the back pocket of the little girl...............that is just incredible.....I mean absolutely incredible

I like the one where he has someone pick out a card (in front of a window at a sidewalk cafe) and throws the entire deck at the window. The card that the woman picked is the ONLY one that not only stuck on the window, but was INSIDE the window!!!!!! :shrug:

2 'tricks' that stand out to me are:

The card trick at New York Knicks training....He gets someone (Kurt Thomas?) to pick a card....puts it back in the pack and Blain then throws the deck into the air.
Get's another guy to grab a basketball that was sitting close by....Slices it open (it was fully inflated!)...and there inside is the card!!

And....He stops someone in the street and tries to 'guess' their name...She gets all giggly and nervous and finally tells him after a minute or so. He says something like, "I thought so" and starts to walk off....But as he does a yellow taxi drives passed in the background with her name painted on the side!!!

Definately an alien!

they also do a lot of camera tricks.....what you see on the show didn't all happen live from the street......some studio work is done and spliced in....

I saw a show explaining how a number of those shows are easily gaffed....

....take the levitation one, where he appears to rise off the ground a foot or so, standing straight up......some can appear to do this, going a foot or more in the air.....you see a live shot of a few people behind the performer, one of them will be wearing a one-color black or brown jacket.......the picture you will see will be of the guy in the jacket half in the picture, the other half being the performer doing his levitation act.....

....they change that from a "live" scene to a studio scene by staging a scene with a person wearing the same color jacket as in the live scene....what you don't see is the performer being lifted by cables in the studio scene....

It would be cool if any of you magicians out there can explain away some of these. Obviously we know he's good at the tricks of the trade, but which one is he using in each of his crazy one... that's what I'd like to know. They have that cool show on Fox every once in a while - secrets of the magicians or something like that that I find fascinating. When I was little I wanted to be a magician, not to be a magic guy, but just so someone would tell me how to do the damn tricks!

but it's the CARD TRICKS that he does LIVE (I've seen it) that I don't get. No camera tricks........it's live right in front of ya....explain that to me :tongue

there's a magician i know that entertains at this local restaurant we go to, and I asked about some of his tricks and like he says its all of watching what is going on around him and that it goes for all magicians. alot of it is allready planned out and someone is helping him with that. its all keeping and eye on everything around him and everybody. there is a website and will have to find that shows every trick he does and the technique behind it...
