Did the White Sox eat some of his contract? He seems pricey for a set up man, since I'd imagine Benitez will remain as their closer.

He was sent to the Marlins along with cash. The White Sox ate over 2 million of the contract (not sure of exact number, but around this much).

He was never embraced in Chicago, and with good measure. He did nothing special and blew way too many games. He hasn't been the same since leaving Oakland. Maybe he does need a change of scenery. Aside from blowing saves, he seems like a nice guy, hope he can turn it around.

They can't all be Gagne can they?????? 79 and counting.......

Fish are desperate for bullpen relief. There is nobody in middle relief and even Benitez, who has been excellent this year, is starting to pitch in the 8th sometimes. Chad Fox is out and will be for a while, Spooneybarger has been out since mid last year, Urbina and Looper are gone. The minor league stiffs that have been thrown out there aren't working well.

Figures the Fish would make a deal were they didn't actually have to pay the whole salary. These guys are cheap!!! :nono:

if he starts throwing 99 MPH again, the only team that will be smiling will be the marlins. ;)

He had a whole offseason to get it back, and it didn't happen. Barring another Tommy John surgery, he isn't going to hit 99 again.

Even if he did, he still causes fans to drink. He also has the tendency to blow the big game (Think A's against Yankees in 2002) when he was Rolaids relief man of the year.
