Obviously Scott has no idea about golf, or pretty much from what I have read much at all, but calling Mickelson a choke was ridiculous. The guy had just birdied three of four holes to take the lead, was the only guy under pare on the entire course for the day. That was the hardest course ever played for a US Open for one round. He was 8 strokes below the field average of the day. He had an incredibly tough putt, one that he had made way more of his share for the day, and missed. Yes, it had happened at a very crucial time, but he played like a true champion up to that tough putt. And I am NOT a Mickelson fan.

You just showed your ignorance for the sport with comments like that :nono:

Have to agree with Jack on this as I was talking about Jean Van de Velde yesterday while watching the Open. I remember one of the announcers saying, "now you know why they say this game is 80% between your ears" while calling this meltdown. Anybody who plays golf knows what he meant.

1B would have to be Greg Norman in the Masters.

1987 Toronto Blue Jays. 4? game lead over Detroit with 7 games to play (Detroit had 8 remaining). Tigers salvage the 4th game of a 4 game series in Toronto. Then go home to host Baltimore and split a 4-game series 2-2. Jays meanwhile are getting swept at home by the Brewers. Season ends with the Tigers sweeping the Jays in Detroit...every game decided by 1 run.

Toronto loses their final 7 games. One win for the Jays in those Detroit games is all they needed and they gagged.

Painful!!!

(Jays, Tigers, Orioles and Brewers all in the same division...man how times have changed!)

1969 Chicago Cubs. They had a 9 1/2 game lead on the 2nd place New York Mets with 6 weeks to go in the season, and end up losing the pennant by 8 games, a 17 1/2 game turnaround.
