Let's get July off on the right foot today:

BOSTON RED SOX (-149) I'm looking for the BoSox to avoid the sweep in the Bronx tonight with Pedro on the mound. I love Martinez' career ERA of 2.76 in 25 games versus the Yanks, and I think New York has avenged the sweep they suffered at the hands of these Red Sox earlier in the season by winning the first two of this set, and could struggle tonight, especially with an inexperienced hurler on the mound, who got lit up like the fireworks I watched last night in his last start against the Mets.

TEXAS RANGERS (-106) I'll take this price with a far superior team. The Mariners have won their game for this series, and I just don't see them winning another. Wasdin is 3-1 in his career versus Seatte, and the Mariners are attempting to fill a major void in the rotation by sending Matt Thornton to the hill. I think if I'm Texas, the words "Matt Thorton" sound a lot better than "Freddy Garcia"......... ;)

LOS ANGELES DODGERS (+156) Contrary to what my ex-girlfriend told me, I do have a heart, and in fact I have a soft spot in it for Jose Lima......(you'd rather drink beer with your friends....you'd rather go to the horse races than have dinner with me.....you'd rather spend money on your Miami Dolphins than buy me flowers....blah, blah, blah, blah.....). Whoa, sorry boys, had a bad flashback there......Jason Schmidt is probably the best pitcher going right now, but his career numbers versus the Dodgers aren't exactly staggering (7-7, ERA of 4.00) and let's face it, he has to lose sooner or later. I think. On the other hand, if you're willing to throw Lima's last start versus the Angels out the window, he has pitched pretty consistently lately and has already beat this team once this year. Worth a shot IMO.

SAN DIEGO PADRES (-117) This isn't really my play, but Blackman's. I'm gonna ride with him on this one and go with the "Fossum Fade". Valdez has handled the D-Backs twice already this year as well, which I like. ;)

ANGELS / ATHLETICS over 9 (-105) I still don't think Washburn is as good as his 8-3 record, even though he has beat Oakland twice this year, but when the A's get hot, they get hot. On the other hand, there is potential that the Halo bats, in an effort to avoid the sweep, could tee off on Saarloos, who may have some butterflies in his return to a major league starting rotation.

Off to the local harness track for the Canada Day twilight card.

Best of Luck tonight Fellas,

Sharky

Love the write ups -- especially the Dodger's one. Who needs a girlfriend anyway when you can have Lima Time at this price??

GL Sharky. Would love to back the BoSox, but with the only person hitting (ortiz) I can't pull the trigger, but best of luck to you. Hope Pedro has 20 K's.
