YTD 87-83 [+3.67]
2nd Half 9-9 (+0.18)
Fri 7/23 1-3 (-2.37) :nooo:
I don't think there is one team in baseball that has raped me of more cash than the stinking Florida Marlins.... :nutkick Also, Doc, you're right about that dead beat pitching for the Reds last night. :fingerc: Acevedo.
Okay, the whining is over, and let's hope the winning is starting....
Big card today, but I like all these games:
CHICAGO WHITE SOX (-115) The White Sox have started to step it up a notch, and are now dealing with the reality that Ordonez may be lost for the season.....I am looking for improvement from Schoenweis in his third start off the shelf with elbow problems and like the fact he is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA lifetime versus the Tigers, while Johnson's lifetime ERA is 7.00 against CWS. Detroit has played very well all year, but I am noticing some deterioration in their play these past couple of weeks.
GIANTS / CARDINALS under 9 (-104) The Cards had trouble with Dustin Hermansson last night, and may continue to struggle again today against Tomko, whose last couple of starts against Arizona were very impressive, and although it was only the Diamondbacks, it should help his confidence. I also like his 3.80 career ERA versus the Cards. In the other dugout, St. Louis sends Chris Carpenter to the mound today, where is sporting an ERA of 3.15 at home this year. The San Francisco bats have never faced Carpenter before, and this should bode well in the pitcher's favour. The Giant bats can be hit and miss as well, so I'll take my chances on the "miss" today.
REDS / PIRATES under 8.5 (+101) I don't even want to talk about last night's performance in the Steel City......Both Harang and Fogg have looked sharp in their last few starts (Harang's ERA is 1.35 in his L20.0 IP, while Fogg is toting an ERA of 2.35 in his L3 games). I don't think you can depend on either offense on a consistent basis, either, so I am looking for pitching to prevail in this one.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (-129) Oh, I couldn't stay mad at them anymore. We have kissed and made up and hopefully they don't let me down today. I like this Towers kid (but who in hell has ever heard of a pitcher wearing number 7??), and in watching the game last night, the D-Rays looked more like they should have been playing the little league powerhouse from Toms River, NJ. I think Tampa Bay is reverting back to the team we have seen in the past few years prior to their run this year. Go Jays.
ANAHEIM ANGELS (-126) I may get stung sooner or later, but I have made some cash simply by laying the chalk and fading the Seattle Mariners. The Angels need to win a lot more than the white-flag-waving Mariners do right now, and I am looking for Sele to put up a big effort on the road tonight, and although he has struggled recently, the Angels are still 8-3 in games he has started.
NEW YORK YANKEES (+120) How many times would I ever have the chance to type that?? I am going to take a chance on the Yanks here, as Arroyo is only 1-4 with a 5.27 ERA at home and the Red Sox are only 5-10 in games started by him.....Why not?
YANKEES / RED SOX over 11 (-116) These two offenses are deadly at the best of times, but when you throw the 4 or 5 starter of both squads out there in the same game........Look out.
A lot of action today, but I like the games and am looking for something good to happen.
Gonna be gone for the day.....You see, I have a problem saying "No" to people, particularly after a few beers.....I have gotten myself in a "couples" tournament at the golf club today with an ex-girlfriend's mother who won't be able to break 110. For someone who has been known to leave home without his patience, this could be a VERY long day...... :nono:
(I think I'm gonna crack a cold one right now......)
Good Luck today Fellas,
Sharky
