Haven't seen it on the internet sites, but Sportscenter is reporing that Miami RB is retiring. This has to be a complete shock to the Dolphins.

NFL Shocker: Williams To Retire?
Is he another Robert Smith? Is he bothered by persistent drug rumors? Whatever the reason, Dolphins star running back Ricky Williams, 27, has told the team he is retiring after just five NFL seasons, ESPN's Dan Le Batard reports.

If I made teh kind of money he made, I would spend the $65.00 and drink the chit that would make it invisible.........Secondly, if you didn't smoke so much , you would have used "too" for also, instead of to.........Rules are rules my friend, every work place has them, and most don't pay the kind of jack that his does, or should I say did. It's a real shame that somebody would be fined for not only breaking a league rule, but the law as well. Do I think pot should be illiegal? No, but it is, and if it's more important to get stoned than play a game that he's played since he was a kid for millions of doallrs, then more power to him.............

Your take on the cluster f##k in boston (as you called it) this week because of the convention, reminds me of a quote from Will Rogers....."I'm not a member of an organized political party. I'm a democrat."

Besides, can it really be that hard to replace a guy who aversges 3.5 yards a carry and 8 TD's a year? I'm not the NFL aficianado that alot of you are, but it seems his retirement should not ruin the NFL.

i called a fellow Raiders fan this morning to laugh at the fins, but he did not laugh. instead he ripped the young man and the nfl in general for overpriced dickheads making ridiculous $$$. he was right. it is pitiful that rw can retire @ 27 because he has made more $$ in 5 yrs. than the avg fellow will ever make. i liked rw because he was a great runner, but his decision is pathetic. at least he should finish his contract. the $$ given to these players is pathetic. charles woodson won't report to camp for oakland because he is not happy with the 8.75 million 1yr deal on the table. 1yr deal ? almost 9 million ! what is the problem ? :cursin:
sorry, dolphin fans for your loss today. :sadwave:

yes, i will be watching all of my favorite overpriced players again this year on direct tv.

He has some disorder..He is a POT HEAD..He faces randoms now all the time...He faces heavy fines and/or suspensions.

He has chosen his Pot lifestyle over a good paying job. Too bad because this is sad.. Only 27...

If he is a POT HEAD , the money will be gone and he'll need to come back.

GOOD LUCK to him !!!

All worked out at the end of the day because he retired late enough in this years game for Miami not to get into the Eddie George sweepstakes.

Miami is my favorite team outside of the Bears. They may have ended up with George. I think his best days are behind him. I really never liked his physical build matched with his running style. He takes too many flush hits.

This is right up there with Barry Sanders being a backstabbing bitch and bailing out just before camp. If I were a Miami fan, I'd be seriously pissed off.

But I can't rag on him for walking. I'm not sure how many of you have played football, esp. at a post-high school level, but it is the one sport that you CANNOT play if your heart is in it. Basketball, baseball, golf, and to a lesser extent hockey, can all be played purely on talent and ability. In football your heart HAS to be in it, or you will get smoked.

Ricky has said before that the money doesn't matter to him all that much. Pro athletes say crap like that all the time and we all know it's bullshit when we hear it. But by walking away from everything he had coming, it looks like Ricky actually meant it.
