colorado rockies (+108) with aaron cook
always like giving the underdog a look when the unbalanced mlb schedule makes for a 'repeat pitching matchup' within a weeks span. perez and cook both pitched well in dodgers stadium last thursday but odalis has never been a good pitcher in coors field. of course we can say that for a lot of guys but his era is almost 6.00 there and the rockies are still playing hard (and are at least giving bettors their moneys worth) despite dropping out of the race in mid june.
toronto blue jays (+134) with ted lilly
very much an el duque road chalk fade. hes pitched well off his shoulder surgery but i just cant see him winning and dominating the same team twice in the span of 5 days. of course its equally as unlikely that ted lilly will hold the yankees scoreless like he did last thursday. but lilly will always keep you in the game. his stuff is not exactly overpowering but he has found a way to keep the yankees off balance in his career. its a small sample size, but yanks have only scored 3 runs against him in 12+ innings. interesting to note that yanks are batting just .243 on turf this year. now if this was football, i would put a lot more stock in that number. doesnt mean much in baseball, but its just another number that seems to favor toronto tonight.
