BBK challenged me to a handicapping contest and has been persistent in getting me to participate. At first I did not want to do anything with BBK since he has a history of 50+ ANTI SCOTT4USC posts but after thinking about it, I think it was a good suggestion. I also would like to ask the following posters to participate as well.

The posters in bold prob. hate my guts and some even wish me to jump off a cliff. I have interacted with all of you during the off season and quite frankly have had a great time in doing so. I think it be fun for all of "us" to challenge each other in a "friendly" contest. Here is what I came up with from the top of my head.

Each pay $20 to participate. We can do winner take all or have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Remember, this is a friendly contest and I feel $20 is not much for any of us to participate and keep it friendly. $20 also would provide a nice payday for the winner. Remember, the biggest prize of them all is the satisfaction of winning! Don't forget that.

The Rules

Each person makes 5 selections ATS each week (no totals only sides). I think 5 is the right amount of selections. I can post the odds on Tues. and those will be the final odds for the week no matter what happens. We can make a rule that all picks must be submitted before midnight Friday or 10am Eastern time on Sat. Don't matter to me.

Everyone would post their selections in the thread, and any post that is edited after the deadline will NOT count. Even if it is 1min. after. NO EXCEPTIONS!

WInner will be decided by MOST WINS! If you do not submit any picks for a particular week, too bad.

We would have to come up with some type of tie breaker.

I would suggest money be sent to Madjack and he holds it. I am not sure if he would volunteer to do this but he would be the person I would trust (especially since many of you loathe me).

These are just suggestions and anybody can add/edit suggestions of their own and lets see who all wants to participate. If nobody wants to participate, that is fine. But I think it would be fun, especially since all of us have been interacting this whole off-season.

I was planning to join that contest. I thought an additional seperate contest would be fun as well. I guess you are right that Jack would not hold the money but it is only $20 from each of us. Not that much at all. Some of these posters may not join that $500 contest (even though it is not $500 to enter).

Someone else could hold the money. But Madjack be the #1 guy for me.

If the contest does not happen, no big deal.

I feel at this point it's not about the cash between a lot of the posters here and the "bragging rights" will be worth more than 200 bucks or whatever.

Little side pot to the Bestline contest between some of the MadJack diehards would make it interesting around here, especially the way this offseason has been. Either way I am down.

Count me in. Like Blackman, I feel the fun and bragging rights are far more important than the small pot of cash. I honestly feel that all players should hold on to their money until December, at which time we can each mail a check to the winner. If not, I am down with sending you, or any other regular including myself, the funds before the season.

It looks like we have some interest.

Cie Grant you offered a good suggestion. That is why I said $20 because it is more about winning/bragging rights than the money. We could do your "honor" system and the losers could all mail/send the winner $10 or $20. Hopefully nobody cheats anybody. Only person I worry about is BBK (because of his 50+ Anti Scott4USC posts). I also am honorable and everyone can send me the money and I can hold it in place. I also have a neteller account that people could send me the money. We can make it $10 or $20. I would like to have some type of money involved but if majority want no money involved that is cool too. Lets all put our handicapping skills to the test and see who comes out on top. I would put myself as the early favorite to win this contest!

FYI, I am 23 years old and I guess I can say I am spoiled. Your sig. quote always gives me a good chuckle.

For starters I do not think I have said anything too outrageous especially when 90% of the time I support my opinion with either hard core facts or a well thought out opinion. I think at the very least I leave people no choice but to respect my opinion. THat is where we come to your sig. quote. That is why I posted that. How can you not take someones opinion serious or disregard it when he provides hard core data supporting it. That would classify you as being ignorant. I also wonder why some people here feel there own opinion needs no justifcation. They think their opinion is a fact. Why hasn't Avalanche posted in this thread? I bet he would love to beat me in this contest. Although I doubt he cand do it! However, he is persistent in asking me to stop posting and lurk but in order for me to participate I would need to be able to post. So will Avalanche quit his request for me to lurk and not post and enter this contest? Please do enter this contest Avalanche! But, I say we add 5 or so power plays -- worth 2 games -- to add an element of strategy! Judicious use of the power plays could make the difference in the whole challenge. I suggested a small # so that they dont make or break anybody, but, if the majority is down to do it weekly (or not at all!) then I'll still play along.

Scotty this is my point about you: Talk about handicapping or zip it and really do go jump off a cliff. I am so sick of listening to you ramble and babble on about your Pac 10 girls football conference. It is sickening. Of course i dont want you really (sort of) to jump off a cliff but come on get with the program. There are fan sites, you can pump up your girls football conference all you want there. i have been gambling since you were 9 years old so I am tired of hearing your lobbying crap. This will hopefully help keep you on task.

I will out cap you any day of the week. Mark it down. Put your top 5 games up every week and I will do the same. Who knows, if you post good picks I may end up liking you.

To me, that's what it's all about. I don't care if someone is convinced that the Sun Belt is the best conference in the nation if they show they can pick winners on a consistent basis.

To those who are interested in playing, that is great. Now we have couple things to vote on before making the final rules on this contest. I will be out of town to New Orleans Aug. 14th and I think I return on the 17th.

Do we want money involved? I would vote yes. We can play as low as $5 or high as $20. Don't matter to me. Be nice for the winner to cash in and if you lose you lose the contest your "ego" and some "cash." I would volunteer to hold the money if everyone wants to send money prior to the contest, or we can do a honor system where everyone sends money after the contest to the winner. (if we do honor system, i will request BBK to send his money to someone else because I do not trust him sending me the money if/when I win the contest!) Or we can play NO MONEY in this contest. I think everyone here doesn't mind either or, everyone seems easy going. But we need OPINIONS!

2nd thing we must determine is where or not we want to use 2 unit plays. Mansa brought up good suggestion and I agree with him. So do we want to use it? I vote yes. I suggest eacfh week you have to select 5 games ATS all for 1 unit. You can have the option whether or not you want to make ONE of those 5 selections a 2 unit play. So everyone either will have 5 picks all for 1 unit or 4 picks for 1unit and 1pick for 2units. Sounds fair? Only rule is you must pick 5 picks each week or 0 selections to remain in the contest. Winner will be player with the most wins! (units won) NO VIG!

3rd major thing we need to decide is whether or not we want to include bowl games. We could say no, or we could say yes. If we say yes, do we want everyone to select 5 bowl games with max 1 being 2units or do we want everyone to select ALL the bowl games (maybe give players in last place a chance to win it in bowl season) with max 3 games being worth 2 units.

4th major thing is TIE BREAKER. Just in case someone ties me for 1st place at the end of the contest! I am not quite sure what we want to do with tie breaker. I suggest everyone makes a top 5 list of how they think the SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10 finish in standings at the end of the year (since those 3 conf. were talked about most) and whoever has the most teams finishing in the right place wins tie breaker.

You get 1pt for each correct prediction.

If anybody else wants to add or omit any rules/suggestions I have provided fill free to speak up. We need everyones opinion and we need to get this finalized. Avalanche thinks he can out cap me any day of the week.

I think Scott4USC is the pre-season favorite to win this contest but bobbybluechip has impressed me with this returning starters system.
