I'm usually not bad with computers but I haven't had to do this before. I have a built and running computer with Windows 2000 and a newly built computer with all the programs I need and it is also running 2000. I am looking for the easiest way to transfer my Outlook info (contacts, addresses, saved mail, etc.) from the old computer to the new computer. Any suggestions?

File | Export | Address Book

Write them to a floppy disk, then go to your new computer and do:

File | Import | Address Book

You can do the same thing for your messages, but you'll need a zip drive or you'll need to use multiple floppies.

Here is another way,

Your inbox or personal folder that contain all your mails have an extension end in xxxx.pst (xxxx is your 1st name initial and lastname) and your contact or address book is xxxx.pab So do a search for those 2 files and copy it to your new computer. Then open outlook on your new computer under where you setup your personal folder and address book, and point it to the pst and pab file that you copy over from your old cpu. Hope that help.

Thanks. I'm going to give a try. I might try exporting the info onto a CD and then import from that. :)
My thought patterns are still stuck in the old days. Of course that would be the logical way to do it. I never think of using CD's for anything but music for some reason.

do a search on the old system for *.pst - also archive your existing outlook instance, then move it over and import File -> import and export -> Import from another program -> personal folder file (.pst) and let her rip.
