I ordered a Pansat2500 and it arrived yesterday. During the week I prepositioned my dish to the sat I wanted. I got up this morning and within 20 minutes I was watching tv. I couldnt believe it. This thing is so simple to use. All thats left to do is group the locals and then sit back and wait for the regular season football games to start. :toast:

I am at 110. All Im using is my old 18" DTV dish that has a single lnb on it.

Its a free to air reciever. It recieves all the free channels from sattelites. You can also program them to open up PPV, Porn, movie channels....everything. That part of it is illegal so I wouldnt suggest doing it.

Trossi..if you want to get a head start you can use you dtv dish and reciever to find sat 110 and 119. On the DTV reciever set the xponder on 28 or 23 (cant remember which) and move the dish about 3/4" west and up a little bit. Watch the signal meter and you will know when you hit it. 119 is a little further to the west. Just change the xponder to the one you didnt use before. Dont forget to make some marks on your dish so you dont forget where each sat is.

Here is a site. Just scroll down to PANSAT and enter that forum. I almost didnt get the reciever because of all the problems it looked like people were having in setting it up. Read as much as you can and it is a snap to set up. I figure if I can do it anyone would be able to.

Heard from a friend that all channels on 119 went down today. That's almost 50% of the channels you'd get from Dish Network.

It gets all the FREE channels, but there aren't many of those that are any good. It does decrypt signals from Dish Network from the US, and Expressvu from Canada as well, but you will not get Directv with this satellite (so no NFL Network, as this is a DTV exclusive channel). Dish Network also does not carry NFL Sunday Ticket. However, with it having virtually every local channel, you may be able to cobble together a poor-man's Sun Ticket by grouping each of the locals every week into a favorites list. However, you may not get every game...

Dish has sats at 101, 110 and 119 degrees (among others). So any dish with a triple LNB and 9? spacing can get all three. 110 and 119 carry the majority of the channels. I'd say the two are just about equally important (119 probably has the better channel choice of the two)...but as I mentioned above, supposedly everything on 119 died today. There are also a number of local channels on smaller satellites (61.5?, 105?, 121?, 148.5? etc). So for a lot of people, they will not get the locals in their area unless they have a second dish, if their locals happen to be on any of those satellites.

Expressvu has sats at 82 and 91 degrees. 91 is the main sat. Sunday Ticket will be on the 91 satellite, but will be encrypted in Nagra 2, which the Pansat cannot decrypt at this time.

In any event, I looked at getting a system like this, but I'd give it a life span of one year max for Dish before it's dead. (Possibly less than that if the ECM on 119 is in fact true). For the cost of buying all this hardware, knowing going in it will have such a limited lifespan...it did not to me seem like the best choice. Another thing to keep in mind: Pansat is not capable of broadcasting HD signals. So for me that was a big factor too as I plan on watching all the HD football I can get my eyes on this year.

To get an idea of which channels are on each Dish Network satellite, check out this channel chart here:

http://www.dishchannelchart.com/

Keep in mind with a single dish you must pick just one satellite (in all likelihood 119). With a dual, add 110. With a triple, add 101 as well. If your locals aren't on one of these 3 sat's, add another dish to your house to get those.

119 is down now but 110 is still up and running. Bev is also up. The only thing not working on 110 is PPV. I get all other channels including locals and movie channels. Ive read where a fix should be released early next week. That gives me time to try to convince the neighbor to cut some branches off his tree so I can get the 119 sat.
