FOOTBALL PROPS - NFL - MOST RUSHING YARDS IN REG SEASON - PLAYER TO MAKE MOST RUSHING YDS IN REG SEASON - JAMAL LEWIS +700

At Millinium, JAMAL LEWIS is listed at 7-1 to win the NFL rushing title. Oly has a similar number, and I presume most of the other sportsbooks are offering about the same price. This looks like a terrific bargain, as I would make Lewis 5-1, at worst. Most of the other leading RB contenders have injury concerns -- Faulk, James, Holmes, etc. With Williams (Mia) now retired, Lewis becomes the favorite to win the rushng title. Furthermore, most of the other leading running backs play in pass-oriented offenses (Indy, KC, StL). Add the Raven's run-oriented offense (Lewis 20-25 carries per game), solid defense, and second-year QB and this is a blueprint for a big season by Lewis. In fact, the Ravens are now a playoff contender -- which means Lewis will get more carries in the fourth quarter of games where the Ravens are leading. Instead of playing catch up and passing every down late in the game, the Ravens will likley add to Lewis' rushing atttempts total.

I rarely play individual player props, but this is a bargain, especially if you think the Ravens are a 9-7 or better team.

Yup, he goes to court the day after the Philly game (Nov 1 I think?). Who knows how long the trial goes. Wouldn't go within a mile of this because of that. Billick has already said players who don't practice all week won't play on the weekend. So he could miss anywhere from a game or two to the rest of the season depending on the outcome.

Yes, of course I am aware of the charges -- but the latest news I had was that it was just a preliminary hearing (I could be wrong) and it was likley any legal proceedings would take place well after the season. The wheels of justice do turn slowly and given Lewis position he is certain to be out on bail, playing with the Ravens. Again, I am just going with gut instinct here, but Id be surprised if Lewis misses any games based on the legal proceedings. If someone out there knows more than I do, I'd like to hear more.

In other Ravens news, federal prosecutors last week filed another drug charge against RB Jamal Lewis.

The way we hear it, Lewis? legal team expected the new charge, which alleges Lewis aided and abetted a childhood friend in an attempt to possess and sell cocaine. Lewis is also charged with conspiring to possess at least five kilograms of cocaine with an intent to distribute the drug.

His case is scheduled to go to trial Nov. 1.
