I just placed a pretty big wager on Florida St. to win the National Championship. I think there is a lot of value in this bet. I also wagered on FSU to win the ACC.

Here are the following reasons why I wagered on FSU to win the NC and ACC.

$300 to win $3,450 FSU to win NC (pinnacle)
$200 to win $500 FSU to win ACC (OLY)

The biggest hurdle for FSU is to beat Miami and I like FSU in this match-up. Here is why.

I think RIX is going to have a breakout year.

FSU has a great OL (#1 in the nation) and very talented running backs. This alone will make it easier for Rix to have success and Rix is a mobile veteran QB. Watch out for RB BOOKER. He is a stud!

FSU returns 9 starters on offense to Miami's 4 on defense. FSU lost a good amount at LB...but they actually could be even better this year at that spot. Very talented LB corps.

In this game you might be getting a more hungry team (FSU), better coached team (FSU), better QB play (FSU) better OL (FSU), and better running back play (FSU). I also plan on betting FSU pk vs Miami.

Berlin is inconsistent, and Miami lost 6 starters to the NFL in round 1 of this years draft. FSU has to win this game, and when they do, they very well may run the table and win the national championship. At 11.5 to 1 odds I will take that bet.

FSU returns 9 starters on offense and 4 on defense. I fully expect FSU to have the #1 offense and #1 defense in the ACC this year.

FSU has the #7 ranked pre-season SOS and they play in the now highly respected ACC. What does this mean? If FSU ends the year with 1 loss, they will have the upperhand in getting invited to the NC game. I think the polls will look at SOS and I also expect FSU to be winning most of their games this year in dominating fashion.

FSU gets Clemson, Virginia and Florida at home. FSU's 2 toughest road games are Maryland and NC State but I do not expect either team to be much of a problem. Especially since both teams are breaking in a new QB!

FSU Schedule
at Miami
UAB
Clemson
No Carolina
at Syracuse
Virginia
at W Forest
at Maryland
Duke
at NC State
Florida

I think it's gonna be tough for FSU to go into Miami and beat them...

you get that one and the plays might be a good call

both Miami and FSU come to Raleigh this year...IF a QB steps up, the Pack can beat one of 'em...we will see though

best of luck on the plays :)

FSU, huh?

FSU, huh?

Scott,

I must admit I can not believe you bet FSU. Maybe you aren't a HOMER after all!!!! (just kidding). Are you going to get that $20.00 a head Handicappers challenge going? If you need someone else to join, let me know. GL.

I may have to place this one myself. I happen to think FSU will crush the depleted canes but the real question is whether OK and USC have a stronger schedule. Hate to have last year's controversy screw you out of 3 dimes.

I am glad you wagered on FSU. There is a lot of value in the bet and I honestly think they have a good chance to win it all. DO NOT FEAR the FSU SOS vs other teams. Like I said in my post, their pre-season SOS is ranked #7 in the country and they play in the ACC. ACC now has everybody's respect and it is a solid conference. FSU just has to get by Miami and then we have a VERY GOOD chance at them running the table. Good luck to us and anybody else who has FSU!

I am still rooting for USC to win it all but FSU now is my 2nd favorite team in the country. As for my contest suggestion Madjacks closed the thread so it will not be happening. He has his own contest set up and it is a great contest so I understand why he locked it up. However I thought it would be fun and glad you would have entered. Good luck this season bamachuck23 it has been nice talking to you on these boards. I will be looking out for your plays and maybe any big bets you have on Alabama.

I would love to hear some opinions from FSU fans on their team.

Good luck with the play Scott. Personally I do not like Rix at all, and don't think he's capable of winning the "big game" but I do think the rest of FSU's team is rock solid. I question Rix's decision making, especially against a tough defense, but if he is smart he'll use all that talent in the backfield as a crutch.
