in this thursday afternoon game in chicago. i was scratching my head at how oliver perez was a home dog on sunday -- the answer became evident at the completion of the pirates 4-0 loss: they cant score. now in the american league a few days later..... mark freaking redman favored on the road against a suddenly resurgent jose contreras? mark redman? contreras has been unhittable in his two starts at home for the sox (14.2 innings....3 runs....15 strikeouts). oakland obviously playing for more right now but does that really justify a truly mediocre pitcher laying 130 on the road in a hitters ballpark? hmmmmmmm. no play for now. but awfully tempting to play this home dog

Honestly.. I agree with you totally.. I liked Oakland for the fact they lost today vs the Sox but once the i seen the pitchers. Contreras is a good pitcher when hes on. Oak is going to have a hard time. Redman is very ordinary.. Line wants Oak money

I like the under 10 here right now.. but definitely Oakland is out of the question..

chuck:

if contreras could avoid the red sox for the rest of his career, he would be damn near be a cy young candidate. he implodes against boston but is very effective against the rest of the league. he absolutely dominated cleveland twice last month. indians had no shot against him, and theyre a good hitting team. mulder of course would be a justifiable favorite. same with hudson. and if mjalam ever gets called up from triple AAA sacramento, im sure he would be a worthy chalk in his pro debut. but no freaking way mark redman should be favored. as far as the total goes, i concur on the under. problem is, i cant bring myself to play totals in games in chicago (either cubs or sox). the lake and the wind just wreak havoc on totals. even when the wind is blowing in, crazy shit happens and pop ups get dropped and totals that should be dead under get busted. but on paper, an under play makes sense, especially with the way jose is throwing at home

LOL...that was a good one

reason i think we're favored is because redman pitches great for us on the road...at home he gets lit up

plus we can rock contreras especially when he isn't throwing well...in oakland (and i know that is in oakland) but we tagged him for 7 runs in 2 innings or something

just think my team gets the win

gl either way

Contreras has been good, but the offense is the key. The white sox don't have mags, they don't have frank and all they really got out there is a bunch of scrubs playing. thats why they are on a streak of going 12-25. plus Contreras hasn't really faced anybody tough in a sox uniform, except cleveland and he did beat them.

I agree that it looks like a bad line...Oak is a better team, but pitcher vs. pitcher they should not be favored.

Chuck, watch out for that total...ump is one of the strongest 'over' guys this year.

good job on oakland guys. damn- if you woulda told me chicago would hold oakland to 5 hits in that ballpark, i would have felt great about my chances. both guys pitched well. but a's did the little things better. congrats oak bettors.

Didnt take Oakland but the under worked out well. I though 10 was a little high with the Sox & Contreras.

Good Job Oakland backers
