Doc thats BS. In states where they did some capping prices did not drop. In-fact the government says lets cap it at $250000. Why? No one really knows. Because the national average for a pay out is $149000. The 45 million Americans with out insurance is costing everyone more then litigation. And yes the best money can buy. The more you got the better. But since when is the practice of takeing care of the sick based on money. Believe there is some creed Doc's are to believe in.

ok its BS....i spend half my day doing things because litigation brought them about.....have nothign to do with patient care

many needless jobs are created to do the same....these have nothing to do with capping lawsuits....that is not the answer anyway

OB/Gyns pay over 100 THOUSAND $$ / year in malpractice insurance due to guys like John Edwards deceiving juries....

thats ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR GOING TO LAWYERS JUST FOR WORKING

not for committing a crime, but to work.....

many are now quitting....and you think its BS

get back on your rocker

TURGRASS SURVEYS ARE TOTAL BS

TURGRASS SURVEYS ARE TOTAL BS

The Fraser Institute, a Vancouver, B.C.-based think tank, has done plenty of work keeping track of Canada's socialized health-care system. It has just come out with its 13th annual waiting-list survey. It shows that the average time a patient waited between referral from a general practitioner to treatment rose from 16.5 weeks in 2001-02 to 17.7 weeks in 2003. Saskatchewan had the longest average waiting time of nearly 30 weeks, while Ontario had the shortest, 14 weeks.

WELL I DONT KNOW ANYONE THAT HAS EVER BEEN SURVEYED FOR ANYTHING. WE HANG UP ON SURVEYS OR LIE ON THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE A WASTE OF TIME.

THOSE WAITING TIMES ARE LAUGHABLE AND EXTREMELY FALSE.

BOTH MY PARENTS DIED FROM CANCER. ZERO WAITING TIME BOTH. BY BROTHER IN LAW HAS SOME F'D UP DISEASE ZERO WAITING TIME.

IF OUR CHILDREN GET SICK OR HURT ZERO WAITING TIME. BY ZERO I MEAN BETWEEN IMMEDIATE SERVICE TO 2 HR WAIT MAX.

I LIVE IN ONTARIO. THE FRASER INSTITUTE IS LAUGHED AT BY MOST EDUCATED CANADIANS.

I APPRECIATE THE TIME YOU SPENT GETTING THE QUOTE BUT IT IS AS VALID AS CHENEY IS HONEST.

AND I NEVER SAID THE US HAD BAD DOCTORS. OF COURSE YOU BUY THE BEST FROM AROUND THE WORLD. BUT YOUR SYSTEM IS BARBARIC.

GO TO THE NY TIMES MONDAY PAST EDITION. LOOK UP WRITER PAUL KRUGMAN. HE'S AMERICAN AND WROTE A GREAT ARTICLE.

CANADA CANADA CANADA. YOU BOZOS ARE JUST TOO EASY. THERE ARE SOME VERY BRIGHT GUYS IN HERE THOUGH. EDDIE HASKELL IS A GOD.

FREEZE CAN BE BRIGHT BUT HE SEEMS LIKE A BORDERLINE CRACK HEAD :142lmao:

All citizens of this country deserve a basic minimal level of healthcare. I think we should trade the high-end medical wizardry for that.

Meanwhile we have the pharmaceutical industry lining their pockets and claiming its for "our" benefit while spending millions advertising hard-dick pills and buying off the Congress.

Then we have doctors and lawyers who pretend to self-regulate themselves and continue to allow the incompetent and crooked to practice and spend millions buying off Congress.

And then the insurance companies take all the blame because they are forced to raise premiums to protect themselves from the expoitative lawyers and incompetent doctors while still trying to make their millions so they also can buy off Congress.

Where is Joe Blow left by all this? Without health care coverage of any sort of course.

Doc's used to doctor to. Then the insurance companies started helping them by saying what they could do. And if you don't believe that ask your Doc why so many are retiring early. Doc's even made house calls once. It's now called hand off to the specialist. You dont think maybe those specialist make more bucks for the hospital do you.

SixFive,

You do work as a nurse so it stands to reason that your health care would be better than the average American with a similar income. That said, the 10% number may have been a bit unfair.

The true bottom line is that health care is incredibly expensive in this country and there are many people to blame. Patients and providers for taking advantage of insurance companies, insurance companies for working with providers to make it difficult for the uninsured to get quality care at a reasonable price and pharmaceutical companies for taking advantage of all parties mentioned above.

My feeling is that neo-conservatives are strongly pro-corporate so they serve those interests by keeping health care as privatized as possible. It gives large corporations one more advantage over small businesses in their ability to provide health care to employees.

why is there such a feeling of entitlement ? sure, if someone is realy sick then i would like them to receive help. however, nationalized healthcare just does not appeal to me. if the healthcare in canada is far superior to the that of the US - why argue about it ? just be happy you live there and don't cross the border - would be a shame if you got sick and the evil US system let you sit in the waiting room.............. :scared

well a health care debate. also interesting anytime Canada and Cuba are mentioned in the same breath. Canada is a little more advanced...:)

the Cdn. health care system is not the best in Canada but it is also not the worse, depends on your study you look at but ussually top 10 or 15. Canada has a problem an aging population the US also has this. In Canada demands on funding are increasing more than the rate of inflation this will continue as it has for the last decade.

Frasier institute is a right wing think tank, well except when they came out with a paper wanting to legalize soft drugs so they could be taxed. the health study had some flaws.

the one time in my life I used the system it worked well. by the way there is private MRI clinics and other things you can pay for in Canada.

now the major debate is wether to cover drug expenses that cost over $1500 a year. I hope the federal government does not agree with this so drug costs are increasing at 20% a year.....another problem.

cdn. system has flaws but it has many good attributes, every cdn. pays for it though in taxes.
US taxes would have to increase by about 10-20% for a similar system.

the brain drain or doctor out migration though it happens is often over stated.

thanks
selkirk
