missed posting the first game here. my record is joined in progress. looking forward to posting my college and pro picks here.. thanks and good luck!

BEST BETS (0-0) (even)
TOP PLAYS (0-0) (even)
REGULAR PLAYS (1-1) (-.10 units)

OVERALL (1-1) (-.10 units)

nice first game. had va tech plus the points and that was an easy winner. i could kick myself for taking the over. i loved under when the line came out. after seeing it drop over 10 points i went with the over. that must have just been a real bad line on that total when it opened up. got my feet wet anyway.

like i stated in my first college post...........

best bets are 3 units and there will be only one per day, otherwise it is not a best bet.

top plays are for 2 units

regular plays are for 1 unit.

just for the heck of it i will throw out some opinion plays, but not actually lay any money on them, but i will keep my record updated on how they do.

i just wanted to get this thread started today. i have been looking over the games starting with the thursday games and i will be back later on tonight or wednesday with some of my plays.

would like some opinions on the pitt/s florida game, seems real strange that pitt is an underdog. i am leaning towards south florida right now. the reason i am asking about this game is because i am a pitt fan and am curious what people think about them this year.

You're in PA - what's the story with Coach Harris? I hear rumors that he's got personal issues or something and isn't focused these days, which may explain the line vs. USF.

thursday's action..............

texas a&m +8.5 over utah (top play)................people are acting like texas a&m sucks all of a sudden. thier coach, Coach Franchione, will not let them be as bad as last year. texas won last years game, although it was at texas and it was close. alot of people bragging up utah in this one. utah probably wins the game, but an aggie outright win is certainly possible. i just don't see them winning by more than a touchdown here. really like this one as aggies getting no respect at all. hey, if virginia tech gave usc a game, then texas can hang with utah.

northwestern +7 over tcu (regular play)...............it scares me a little that so many people are on northwestern in this one. i look for northwestern to use a ball control offense and keep it away from tcu and make this a close game. i just don't see either team winning by more than seven here.

alot of people on e michigan over buffalo. i was going to play it myself but decided against it. it is real easy to want to bet about every game on the board in this first week.

i am probably going to take a pass on the friday night (washington st/new mexico game), that could go either way. should be back friday night with all of saturday's action.

good luck everybody in this opening week of college football. it feels good!

...according to the concensus sites that i've seen there are more folks on T A&M (58%) than NW (36%)...but I'm on both of 'em, so BOL to us. :)

...agree that it's tempting to play too many in the first week and I am probably guilty of that myself, but it is great to see september and college football roll back around, ain't it? :)

Ain't that the truth. I plead guilty.... I've bet about 20 already....

best bets (0-0) (even)
top plays (0-1) (-2.20 units)
regular plays (2-1) (+.90 units)

overall (2-2) (-1.30 units)

1-1 last night winning my regular play with northwestern and losing a top play with texas a&m. was i even wrong about the aggies. are they that bad or is utah that good? i imagine it is a combination of both. still early to tell about alot of things i think you need a couple of weeks to get the feel of who is going to do what for the year.

oregon state +18.5 over lsu (BEST BET)...............i get the feeling that lsu is going to be a bit over rated this year. even though this is a home, i don't see them giving this many points to a decent oregon state team. lsu's offense probably not going to be in gear yet, at least not enough to cover this many. oregon state qb can put up some numbers and do a little bit of running himself. i just think lsu is getting to much credit based on last year. this is a different team. they should and will win this game, but it will be much closer. no more than ten.

cincinnati +15 over ohio state (TOP PLAY)...............ohio state has lost alot from last year. cincy not intimidated playing at ohio state. these teams being so close to each other makes it a bit of a rivalry. even though i doubt it, i would not be completely shocked to see cincy win the game. i have seen bigger upsets. there is always that one game or two every year that you cannot believe somebody lost. maybe this will be it. just smells like a close game to me.

akron +15.5 over penn state (TOP PLAY)............this is more of a play against penn state. people are talking like penn state might be back to their old selves this year. i doubt it. paterno needs to retire. he has lost it. his teams just do not respond to him the way they used to. all of a sudden these smaller schools have the confidence to at least give them a game. i look for a tight game all the way with penn state maybe even trailing in the fourth quarter, and them pulling it out. teams from akrons conference have been known to pull an upset now and then.

mississippi -3.5 over memphis (REGULAR PLAY)..............wished i would have got this when it was three. hopefully it won't matter. mississipi owes them from last year. ole miss plays very well vs memphis at home. i think ole miss out to prove that they can do well without eli manning at qb. i have read alot of good reasons people like mississippi in this one and i think i will just jump on board.

e carolina +29 over west virginia (REGULAR PLAY)...............let me start by saying that i am a pitt fan. all i have been hearing about is how great west virginia is going to be this year and how they could be in the running for a championship, they might go undefeated. they are good, they are not great. they are not going to cover a four touchdown spread. too much hype on them this year.

other games i like, but will not play. i will just keep a win-loss record on these game, no units involved and will not count towards my overall season record. just my opinions.......no write ups.

rutgers +5 over michigan state
vanderbilt +3.5 over s carolina
kansas -3.5 over tulsa

there you have it. i will be back saturday night with my sunday plays. i know of two that i like. good luck everybody!!

i will update my record after this weekend is over. not looking so hot so far on saturday. both my top plays went down but my best bet of oergon state is looking pretty good. i am getting 18.5 and they are leading 9-0 at halftime. should be a winner. being a three unit play should take away some of the sting of losing my top plays. really need to get a feel for things this first week. seems like most of the teams that alot of people liked and talked about all lost today.

only like one play for sunday.

unlv +19.5 over tennessee (TOP PLAY).........this reminds me alot of the oregon state game. tennessee has lost alot and i just don't think they can cover this big a number against a decent unlv team.

just can't find anything else that i like on sunday and don't want to force anything.

i sort of liked pitt on monday night. just about everybody liked south florida, but the game is cancelled already. that only leaves one game and i will probably take a pass on that. i will be back to update my record sunday night or monday morning.

i am probably looking at a losing first week in college football but that is ok. i will get it back

good luck everybody!!
