It may be me...but I don't see Sheffield or Manny as overwhelming choices to win the MVP award. Both have had nice seasons, but certainly not ridiculously good.

At Olympic, Ichiro is considered a field bet to win the award....paying 8 to 1?!!? To me it sounds like a heckuva value.

True--Seattle is God-awful this year.... Doesn't that make his total hits mark and batting average all the more impressive considering he's the only guy the opposition has to get out?? I mean--if he beats the all-time hits record set 70-80 years ago, doesn't that warrant serious consideration--while batting somewhere around .380? It's happened before where a major award goes to a guy on a last place team...why not here?

Just looking for some other opinions... Thanks!

I think I would still lean Bonds in the NL, but Beltre is paying at 250... I agree that he does have a shot though---especially if people are sick of Barry...

I think Ripken won it for a last place team about 15 years ago or so, but no idea if they lost 100. Steve Carlton won the Cy Young for the last place Phillies back in the day too....so I guess it's not totally impossible.

The numbers he is putting up this year are just mind-boggling. It has to be hard to ignore...

I admire his talent and achievement but his games have been meaningless, no pressure situations, and pretty much garabage time atmosphere. I think alot of games the opposition is "throwing strikes" to get the games over with as they cruise to victory. He is entertaining but no MVP. :)
