anybody in the business?

looking at a lennox elite gas furnace...rated 80% with a multi blower selection...
with a lennox 2.5 ton air conditioner....a 13 seer coil...

replacement of the old line set inside the house...

$4750

or ...a trane 14 seer unit(2.5 ton)....w/ an xv80/xl80 two stage gas furnace (3 ton)........

still discussing whether i need to change the old line set inside the house...

the guy told me that the copper tubing in the house is heavier than what they use now...

$4200.00 after $300 rebate....

whattaya think?.....how important is a 13 seer rating vs a 14 seer rating?......lennox vs trane?....

i`m thinking i might need a 3 ton a.c....it`s not a small house(5 br...2.5 baths)...thanks

really appreciate any help here...

thanks

Talking to a friend of mine in the biz....

Talking to a friend of mine in the biz....

The important thing is the heat load.

or the climate.

Midwest, NE, SE??

I'll get back a response.

Sounds like your undersized

Have your contractor upgrade you to a 3 ton condenser and evaporator at least.

My guy says you are getting an awesome price. Train is the Rolls Royce of heating and cooling equipment.

If you have more than 2500 sq ft, should really be closer to a 5 ton unit. What is your footage?

In Chicago, 500 sq ft per ton. That's how they measure what size you need here. It sounds like you have much the same climate as we have here.

13 to 14 not much difference depends how much you run your system.be a little careful with replacing your line set because 13-14 should be running r410a which is higher pressures then r22 also I would go with a 5 ton blower on the furnace 1 per 500 sq ft is about right depending on age of house and insulation. i'm in the the business and could give you alot info later also go with the trane unit
