The Cleveland Indians called up right-hander Kyle Denney to start Tuesday night against Detroit.
Denney, set for his major league debut, was 10-5 with a 4.41 ERA in 24 starts at Triple-A Buffalo. He allowed 134 hits and 39 walks in 134 2-3 innings, while striking out 113.
He was on the disabled list from May 16 to June 2 with a sprained left knee. The Indians had considered bringing up Denney as their No. 5 starter earlier this season when Jason Stanford and Jeff D'Amico went on the disabled list.
Denney moves into the rotation because Jason Davis is pitching out of the bullpen, Kaz Tadano underwent an MRI on his back Monday, and Cliff Lee's turn will be skipped because he's tired.
