Miami (-29) over Houston

This Houston team is not very good. They beat Army by 14 but lost to Okla and rice. WR Kendal Briles, who just happens to be Houston's backup quarterback, is doubtful. The Cougars are weak up front on defense Plus DEs Kendrick Goss and Matt Bentley might be out because of injuries. Miami's defense is way to strong to allow the type of offense Houston put up against Army. Miami's defense should be a force in this game. Only downside for Miami is it is their first away game.

Boise St (-21.5) over BYU

On the smurf turf Boise is a very tough team. It was on this same blue carpet the cowboys came back from a 14 point lead to hand it to Oregon St. I feel the line was low because Boise and UTEP was not a blow out. This BYU has lost their last 2 games by 27 and 32. This is a beaten squad and Boise is too quick for them. Boise State cruising to a 50-12 victory last year in Provo.

Kansas (+6.5) over Texas Tech

Kansas is tough at home, while TT has struggled on the road. Last weekends beating of TCU scares me a little, but TCU doesn't have a very good defense as N'Western showed me. BUT KU ranks 10th nationally in total defense and 18th nationally in scoring defense. KU had difficulty running the ball last week vs N'Western, they need to correct that problem before going into this game. Remember that in the TCU game TT was down 21-0 in the second and came back. KU has to get on them quick and stay on them.

Utah (-21) over Air Force

AF struggles defending the pass, as the Cal game showed me. Utah's defense that has allowed just 20 points so far this season. They will have to dig in and play the option well to beat this team. IMO Utah at home has too much offensive fire power and if the defense gets a few stops Utah might run away with it.

Will be back with a few more.

Nice card -- just read that Urban Meyer has laid down a challenge to his team to pitch a shut out this weekend, hope they come through with it.

UVA (-25) over Cuse

Cav's are tough at home, they are believing in what they are doing. Both the offense and defense are clicking. The Cavaliers' offensive line could be the best Syracuse will see this season. the Cavs average 303.7 rushing yards per game. Hagans lead the ACC in passing efficiency while completing 72.9 percent for 568 yards and 3 touchdowns The Orange defense has some new faces and even though they played better vs. Cinc (Syracuse managed six takeaways, including four interceptions) they have a huge test against UVA.

The Cavaliers have surrendered only 12.7 points per game and shut out Akron last Saturday 51-0. UVA will be up to the test of stopping Reyes and Rhodes. The defensive front includes three returning three-year starters (DEs Chris Canty and Brennan Schmidt and NT Andrew Hoffman), and three of the four linebackers (Darryl Blackstock, Ahmad Brooks and Kai Parham) are Butkus Award candidates. The fourth (Dennis Haley) is fifth on the team in tackles. The secondary held Akron QB Charlie Frye to a career low 72 yards passing last week.

Kent (-7) over Akron

I like Kent at home, Cribbs has been playing very well. A good arm and can move with his feet. Akron has played the tougher teams so far but has taken it on the chin from Penn st and UVA. Kent has to get pressure on Frye and they can because Akron doesn't have a very good o-line. If the line gives Frye time he will pick this team apart. Kent State was able to hold Rutgers to just 88 yards on the ground, this IMO is big considering Rutgers is a big running team. If they can focus on stopping the pass like they did against the run last week they should be successful.

Oregon (-34) vs Idaho
(I hate to prey on this team)

The vandals have let Washington St and Boise hang a lot of points on them. The Ducks now 0-2 are home once again after a sad effort against Indiana. Washington st was very successful through the air on the Idaho team. Also the Vandal run defense is terrible. On a sad note but the stunning murder(monday) of teammate Eric McMillan (rest in peace) has the team reeling going into this week's game at Oregon. I should think the toll of this being their 4th road game (getting out right beaten in 2/3) and the death of a teammate is too much for a vandal team. Spread is very high, but even if Oregon lays off them late in the game they may hold Idaho to 0 points.

VT (-9) over NC State

Tech hasn't made a lot of waves this year but they are quietly gaining confidence in blacksburg. Last 2 games have been away from home and the hookies have laid the wood to Duke and Western Mich. Don't forget the opener to LSU?? Well this is VT first home game, at tech and it is a very unfriendly place for the other team. Randall is agile QB that can make plays down field running and throwing. NC St defense is very tough and so is Tech's. The Hokies' offense is churning out a 401-yards per game. Blackburg should be up for its first conference ACC home game! NC. St didn't show too much ability on offense against OSU, the speed of Tech should be a problem for the pack.

you mean USC

I'm on the other side of the tech game here's why .
Pack had 5 to's and way too many penalty's vs Buckeye's. NC ST Def looked good allowed less then 150yds

Oregon , utah , boise st I played as well

Type-o, my mistake (LSU/USC - one of those co-championship teams :) ). I understand TO's killed NCST last weekend but I'm looking a quick, hungry VT defense at home, where they play especially well.IMO I think VT hasn't gotten any credit and this is a big game for them (first game against real talent besides USC), show the effort from week 1 wasn't a fluke. Thanks for the feed back glad to see your on the other three.

Brock Berlin.....

Brock Berlin.....

I'm in a huge drought, a the only good drought is a Guinness draught.........

Are you kidding me? What is going on in the state of Florida with this guy and Rix? To muster 1 TD in the second half, against a defense that IMO was no where near as fast as Miami (3 WR's were in the top of the Big east in Track)? HOW...I'll tell you be Berlin has the touch of sandpaper. This guy consistently over threw wide open receivers and under threw many passes. That Miami team has another thing coming if they think they are really worth being the #4 team in the NCAA. Mental note I will take any of the offensive teams playing vs. Miami in the future, and this speaks volumes FSU.

This will be VT's third home game of the year...both WMU and Duke were at home. Liked Tech earlier this week at 6.5 but at 10 that is pushing it. Tech does have great team spead, but lack the running backs of the past!!Plus NCST pass defense is very good. If they hold Tech to limited passing, their running game is not all the impressive...probably skip this game, taking Purdue and UVA for blowouts!!

Thanks for the correction Lost Hillbilly, I like Tech's defensive speed and special teams. Plus I think Randall has enough touch to make hard throws while he can still make things happen when he gets out of the pocket. However they do get Imoh back after a suspension where he averaged 30.5 yards on kickoff returns. You are right the running game has shown sparks but never caught fire, but they do have Humes and Randal so NC st has to play run.

This all being said I am in a big slump, too big....so with regards to my weekend card.... tread lightly while the lights are out.

Final Play

Final Play

Minny (-15.5) over N'Western

The gophers out rush N'western by almost 200 yards per game! 168 to 359 per game! The Gophers also average 2 more yards per carry almost 7 yards to 4.5. On the other hand N'Western averages almost 100 yards in the air more than Minny! The key for the Gophers is getting to Basanez! Minnesota has the No. 3 offense in college football. The Gophers are averaging 572.3 yards per game. N'western is allowing 31.7 points per game. Minnys defense has to step it up against the pass! Still thing the Gophers at home will run all over this team. The best plan for the Gophers is to run the ball all day and keep the N'Western offense off the field.

Final card
Utah -21
VT -9
Kansas +6.5
Boise - 21.5
UVA - 25
Oregon -34
Minny -15.5

Small plays - no write ups on:
ND - Run through Wash
Iowa +13 - Close conference battle
Bowling Green +1.5 - played w/Okla in Oklahoma!
