PAST
Vanderbilt's inexperience led to costly mistakes in the first time that they faced Navy under Bobby Johnson's (then 2nd year) regime.

PRESENT
Vanderbilt has returned most of last season's starters, who have made mistakes that cost them the first two games vs. South Carolina and Mississippi, and who are determined to get it right the third time. Vanderbilt's defense has a better opportunity to contain Navy's offense now that they saw it operate last season. Navy looks ahead to Air Force next week.

Game was played when BYU's offensive line was in a shambles, the QBs were hurt, and new D coordinator Bronco Mendenhall had never prepared for Boise State. The game was also played in the snow, which helped ruin BYU passing attack.

PRESENT
Game under the belt from last season gives BYU a much better idea of how to prepare and avoid the traps set by Boise State's opportunistic defense. BYU offensive line now a year older, smarter and healthier.

SOMEWHERE AROUND THE S.E.C.
ray this might not effect your play on vandy, but vandys best receiver and best offensive lineman got hurt in last weeks mississippi game and are probably not going to play this weekend.

good luck on your picks.

Ray,

From reading your reasoning behind taking BYU, would the over not be a solid play as well, if not a better play?

From what I believe you are saying, you think BYU is going to score points tonight. We all know Boise is going to get theirs, so the over to me sounds good behind your reasoning.

Thoughts?!

Factor BYU's low offensive output this season (20, 10, 10) with the
fact that they have played very good defenses (Notre Dame, Stanford, USC).
Going up against Boise's defense is a class drop, and so is going up against
Boise's offense, because Boise's team speed isn't as quick as those other sides'

Thanks Ray for the response, and I agree with you on your points. However, Boise is one of those teams that you just can't bet against IMO. One has to believe that they will score at least in the 30s, do you agree or disagree. I personally feel they will be in the 40s, with them putting up 53 against OSU at home. If BYU is to cover then I see them having to put up at least 21-28 IMO. It is tough any way you look at it, they are just one of the three or so teams that I have followed closely over the past 2-3 years so I wanted to get your take on it. 41-21 is a cover and under though so you make good points.
