I am thinking of getting my husband a HD motorcycle for his bday. After seeing Dogface link I'm not so sure I should LOL.

What do you guys think? What kind of Harley should I get him? Opinions/advice needed. Thanks.

Depends how much you are willing to spend. I won a Harley Davidson Fat Boy earlier this year (already sold it, but that's only because I don't ride). It was a hell of a nice bike. At this stage of the game though I figured I'd rather have the money and be alive. LOL Probably looking at about $20,000 to $25,000 US for one of those, new.

Don't know about Harleys but be sure to get him a helmet and make him wear it unless you like tending to vegetables. I see nitwits riding around here with nothing on but their coolray shades thinking how cool they are but wonder how cool they will look when they are sitting around drooling on themselves after a relatively minor cycle accident.

Sorry to preach but got about 30,000 bike miles behind me and would never ride without the lid.

now here's a question for you, Missy.... are you really looking for opinions on *getting your hubby a bike*? or is there another hidden agenda? if you really want opinions on your question, i'll be glad to give you one that you won't like, but will keep it to myself if you say that there was a different reason that you asked.

Mama ... you caught me I have a hidden agenda! Man you are good! So I guess now you can just keep your opinion to yourself.

Thanks Chan ... the links were great.

Do not get him a Sportster. There is a reason why you can get them cheap. No one wants them because they are just to small. Not motor wise but appearence wise. Most women wont even ride one. Or they start out on one just to get to learn how to ride and then move up to a bigger bike. Remember when looking for a Harley...bigger is better.

My brother just traded in his Goldwing for a Dyna Glide this summer. I thought it was a dumb move but he really enjoys it. He has put on more miles this summer than the last 3 combined.

Just remember to add about $1000-$2000 more to the purchase price so he can start adding chrome to it. You would not believe how much that stuff costs.

a chopper for sure............take a good look at a chopper by Martin Brothers, Matt Hotch, or of course OCC or Arlen Ness. Eddie Trotta, Dave Perewitz, and Jesse James also make great choppers!

I hope to be on a Martin Bros' by beginning of 2005......right fly :)

This might be a bit off the topic but the other day at 3pm I saw a 75 year old fat guy riding a moped up Parsons st. in Brighton wearing only speedo underwear. No shirt,no shoes, no sox (he had a long grey beard like Santa) but he was wearing his helmet.
