We can only hope that once the Republican win this election that nothing happens to GW, this Cheney guy is really a full of crap and cant tell a truth. Too bad the Dems have such a weak ticket this election as Bush and Cheney are completely incompetent and cannot tell a truth!

CLEVELAND ? Vice President Dick Cheney (search) said Tuesday night that the debate with Democratic Sen. John Edwards (search) marked the first time they had met. In fact, the two had met at least three times previously.

Cheney made the remark while accusing Edwards of frequent absences from Senate votes.

"Now, in my capacity as vice president, I am the president of Senate, the presiding officer. I'm up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session. The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight," Cheney told Edwards during the debate.

On Feb. 1, 2001, the vice president thanked Edwards by name at a Senate prayer breakfast and sat beside him during the event.

On April 8, 2001, Cheney and Edwards shook hands when they met off-camera during a taping of NBC's "Meet the Press," moderator Tim Russert said Wednesday on "Today."

On Jan. 8, 2003, the two met when the first-term North Carolina senator accompanied Elizabeth Dole to her swearing-in by Cheney as a North Carolina senator, Edwards aides also said.

Edwards didn't forget their prayer-breakfast meeting. The Democratic vice presidential candidate noted the discrepancy at a post-debate rally in a Cleveland park, calling it an example of Cheney "still not being straight with the American people."

Thats what really bothers me about Bush and Cheney the inability to at least try to shoot straight, hell I could live with GW as President as long as he did not have this crook as his running mate. Personally, I think if you got GW away from all the partisan crap he would be a pretty good guy but Cheney is a liar and he is right he has a long political history of padding the pockets of his friends and himself. Like I have said all along it just goes to show you how weak the Democratic Party is that the best they can do is trot out Kerry as their leader, good lord this guy has so many holes that they do not have enough sandbags to patch all his past flaws but even with all his flaws I think he is less dangerous than allowing Cheney four more years of graft and lies. In 2008 I am voting for Jessie Ventura as he has allready annouced that he will be running for president, I think a straight shooter like Jessie would be a welcome change compared to the two losing options that we currently have a choice from.

"Edwards didn't forget their prayer-breakfast meeting."

I think the dem party has found that their paths crossed 2 and possibly 3 times--however I find it odd Edwards could not recall or I am sure he would have made comment of it.

The point was to high-light is horrendous attendance record--might be why the local paper dubbs him Senator Gone--but to be fairit was not his local paper the "News & Observer" but a 3 time weekly the Pilot. Doubtful they will carry his home state as with Gore in 2000---not a good sign!!!!!!!

On the other hand has Geroge Bush been absent from Washington more than any sitting predident in history? As I recall last week a report came out that said he has been gone from the White House on vacation nearly double the amount of any president in history.

I'm an independent right now. Voted for Bush in 2000.

But Cheney's jab at Edwards for poor attendance record in the Senate by saying that he'd never met him before was way over the top. If Cheney cannot remember sitting next to the man at a breakfast meeting or backstage at Meet the Press, then he's either very forgetful or is a flat out liar. To think that he has that much influence in this administration is pretty scary.

FWIW I do think that the Bush/Cheney team had it in for Saddam from the start. It's hard to think otherwise given the history they have with the Iraqi regime. Plus, I'm sure weighing heavily in on the decision to go to war had a lot to do with big business and oil interests.

What blows my mind is that even today these guys (Bush and Cheney) are still trying to justify this war now that the cat has been let out of the bag about no WMD! Doesn't there come a point where you try andsave face and say "hey we screwed up there was never no weapons over there and we jumped the gun"? It's almost sickening to see these guys today after the report came out still trying to skirt the issue, do they seriously think the american public is that dumb?

This report is after years of looking into. Before the war started, what kind of info did we have and what did we really know? 20/20 hindsight is always great, but the intelligence we had back then may have been flawed. Is that Bush's fault? How about Blair or even kerry who said at the time Saddam was a threat. Yeah today we may know the truth, but could we wait around for another attack on our country. When we were bombed at pearl harbor, we acted pretty fast and not just towards Japan, but Europe, North Africa, and so on. You go where you believe the threat stems from based on our best intelligence at the time. Mistakes have happened before and this won't be the last either I'm afraid. It is easy to pick everything apart now years after the fact.
