i said the exact same thing. did he think he was throwing from the cut of the grass? my god. in his defense, the ball was hit so sharply that he couldnt come from behind it with his momentum but it was still a lame throw given the situation.

The answer is very simple - Jones lost track of the outs - he actually thought the line drive he caught was the 3rd out...you will never hear him say it but guarantee you that is what happened...he has a cannon for an arm btw for those that dont know...loss was very painful for me...had twins big tonite, big for the series, and to win it all...what a bummer

I think what happened was that the ball was hit so hard that he could not step back and be moving in as he caught the ball to throw it in to the catcher. he was flat footed and his only chance to throw him out was to hit the cut off man. could be wrong but as an outfielder thats what i think happened

Man.........I kept yelling" what the f*** is he doing".........it sure looked like he was taking his sweet ass time..........hell with the game on the line he should have just let it go to the plate.........even if it sails over the catchers head at least that gives him a chance...........I also just think he fell asleep and thought there were 2 outs........to me it looked like he hesitated..........Even if he just gets it in quicker maybe Jeter doesnt go.......

i'm pretty sure he knew there was only 1 out..hence that was why the outfield was in in the first place

i just think that he thought jeter would stay put

I dont blame Jones for the loss. Nathan should have been pulled either after the walk to Cairo or after the first two balls to Jeter...He was finished and had no chance.

And who were you putting in? JC Romero and his 8+ era in September or Crane who is a 22 year old kid with control problems. I agree with you Nathan was done, but a tired Nathan is better than the other options.

Nathan completely dominated the Yankee hitters in both game 1 and game 2 up untill the Cairo at-bat. I would have rather taken my chances with a fresh arm, no mattter who it was. Just my opinion
