The Cubs did.

Well actually....
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs announced Monday they have retained all of their coaches for 2005 except third base coach Wendell Kim, and that Gary "Sarge" Matthews and Gene Clines have switched duties.
Matthews will now be the first base coach and be responsible for outfielders and baserunning, while Clines will take over as the hitting coach.

Bet you Lofton misses Sammy tonight :142lmao:

Kim loves to wave people at the wrong time, but Dusty should be the goat not waving wendell, Don't understand the matthews switch either, it is a step in the wrong direction from hitting coach to 1st base coach.

I have been against baker as a manager since he was in sf, he can't do it when it counts which is about 25-30 games a year when a manger really need to make the right call.

You know at this point any changes are good. Maybe if the changes would have been dealt with during or before the season we could be watching the Cubbies now. Wishful thinking I guess.

strange move i guess, but just because you hit homers, obviously your not going to win. The cubs ranked 11 in walks in the NL, 11 in OBP, and 7th in runs scored. that just goes to show you they really were only swinging for the longball most of the time. They have got to be more patient at the plate next year.

This is kind of where I was going Fletch.

SCAPEGOAT TIME!

NO! IT'S NOT DUSTY!

Someone has to take the hit for a team with over a 100 million dollar payroll finishing 3rd behind the two teams playing for the penant. The Tribune organization decided not to can the dope that's blown it late in the season for the third year straight. Now you will see a much different team (offensively) next year for Dusty's 4th attempt to blow it. But it will be his final contract year.

how can you 'can' a dope for having 2 winning seasons in a row? most ballclubs would kill for that kind of production. People are too impatient these days. it sucks the cubs didn't make it to the playoffs, but im not saying that had a bad season. they fought to the end of the season and came up short. don't get all crabby operator because your boys from the southside were out of it since july...:)
