Weekend of 10/23

Oregon State -7 (-120)....Mostly a play against the Washington State offense without Swogger. The Oregon State defense, who has given up a ton of points, does have a nose for the ball and have already grabbed 9 INTs this season. Facing a very inexperienced QB in Alex Brink I expect them to keep creating turnovers. Also see the Oregon State offense moving the ball against Washington State, whose defense has been playing very poorly as of late. Oregon scored 41 on them, and Stanford accumulated 383 yards last week vs the Cougars. Oregon State should be able to put up enough points to force Washington State to throw the ball, and put the pressure on Brink in his first start.

Looking at a couple of others I'll post them up later once I made final determinations on them.

Texas pk.....had this game circled all week and can't pass now that the line has fallen this far. Texas Tech is going to score, we know that, but I don't see them putting up huge numbers vs the Longhorn defense who is ranked tenth in passing defense giving up 154 yards a game. As for Texas, this game falls on Cedric Benson's shoulders. If he can control the game and keep the TT offense off the field, which I think he will, Texas should pull out a win here. Will be a tough game, but overall the Longhorn's superior talent should prevail. Don't know if TT is the chic pick this week or not, but the line value here is something I'm not passing on.

Just a note -- I capped this game with Young playing QB, if Mock gets in there it's a bonus and the Texas offense won't be nearly as one dimensional. But either way I stand behind this one.

agree with oregon state. washington states defense couldn't stop an ant from scoring and their offense was shaky with swogger. how good will they be with a backup unless he turns out to be chad pennington !

GL this week Blackman. I think yours is the only thread I've seen favoring Texas. Was beginning to think it was me against the world. I really like them, especially as a pick. Let's bring the Longhorns home tomorrow. Also close to making a play on OreSt. All the best to you

i am chasing with the texas pick today. I love the D. I think they are going to give the red raiders some problems. Hopefully they can run it down their throats. GL

Pitt -5......Pitt has shown that they are solid at home, and the win over BC impressed me last weekend. Rutgers has a lot of injury concerns going into this week, two are starters on the O line, and they don't have a very good rushing attack to begin with (98.6 ypg). Rutgers is giving up over 400 yards per game on defense, and giving up 360 yards to Temple last weekend may have helped their average but is not impressing me. Pitt has won 5 straight vs Rutgers, 7 of the last 8, and is 18-3 overall against the Scarlet Knights. I look for that dominance to continue.

Northwestern/Wisconsin under 43.5....I love the Wisconsin defesne, and how they swarm to the ball, and it looks like weather is going to play a factor here. Raining right now, and weather could get heavy during the game. Should hurt the NW pass attack, and Alzarez will just run with his horse Anthony Davis. I see a game of field position and ball control playing out.

GL with the plays BM!! You're the first one I see on Texas....usually that's a good sign for your sake. I'm on Tech though myself along with everyone else. HUGE revenge game for them and feel just too much fire power for the home team. Tech's "D" has gotten better each game as in the beginning they were pretty bad. Benson is a total stud and I think you nailed it right on the head as the only chance Texas has is to keep TT "O" off the field with long drives. Benson needs to have a HUGE day I feel in order for them to have a chance....hope you come out ahead today!

Took FSU -8 2h --- all of Wake's points are off turnovers, the FSU D is still playing great. Need the Seminoles to make some adjustments, they still should win this game. Wake hasn't beaten FSU since 1973 and has never beaten a top five team.
