houston rockets (+6.5) over detroit
cleveland cavaliers (-2) over indiana

both houston and detroit grind it out. i just think 6.5 is a lot to lay on opening night. obviously, we dont know what were going to get from the tmac/yao duo yet, but im willing to take my chances that detroit doesnt live up to the hype right out of the gate.

cleveland has to take advantage of the opportunity to steal an early season win from arguably the best team in the east. for once, its not the cavaliers who have all the injuries - although wagner is hurt again, theyre relatively healthy. this is a very winnable opener (something they havent had in the last few years) and especially with the way they started last season (0-5 right out of the gate) i think they understand that this one, although its only 1 of looonngg 82, can be a springboard to a season that has expectations.

good stuff gman, I like houston too I think they play close or win, always play great defense under jeff vg, 2 good scorers in yao and tmac and howard as the 3rd wheel, should play well, looking fwd to following your college stuff all year and your nba stuff when you offer it, I like nba better personally b/c I can follow it easier and watch the Knicks nightly, college is crazy to follow and you're also in MAC country while only team near me is St Johns, but good luck to everyone this season

gman,

love seeing you on CLE here as you know the Cavs inside out. Couldnt agree more that you have to get IND when they're weak or down - this is certainly that time even if its the first game of the year.

HOU worries me because of the way the constantly turnover the ball especially against a team that gives you few easy scoring chances. TOs for HOU have been a problem since forever it seems (even under Rudy T). Im probably going to lay off this one but can see the angle as surely DET will be "ringstruck". Is Yao definitely playing? One other ? How does McGrady normally do against this team - coulld be a good angle there.

Looks like Yao is playing - guess he was simply sitting out of preseason game because of elbow

gman, I agree with your Cavs play. Pacers are very beat up at this time and I for one do not know where they will find consitant scoring from. I think they will miss Foster more than people realize. The guy just flat out busts his ass every night.Rebounding will also be a problem for the Pacers until they get healthy. Good Luck

Gman,

So are you going to jump ship on Cleve now that it's supposably
a "public" play?
