are calling in my local ESPN affiliate CANCELLING their season tickets :scared

Beauty :)

There's still hope for Chicagoans

Me thinks this long time Cub run with the fans of this city may be coming to an end.

IO, do you really beleive they are cancelling? I don't. I would think they would wait to see which FA's are signed first. Even if a small group did cancel there would be plenty of people waiting in line.

I doubt Sosa goes anywhere. If he were traded the Cubs would have to eat some if that huge contract. Prob 4 to 5 million to trade him.

There is no way you can keep Sosa on this team. He is NOT the leader anymore. He won't get the respect he thinks he deserves, and I think it's time to cut losses and ship him. I"d be happy with a lot of prospects at this point. He is a cancer to this team. If Beltran is even Sniffing in this direction...I'd be shipping Sosa in a second.

I'm a lifelong cubs fan...bleed cubbie blue...but it's time to say goodbye to Sosa.

its not that easy to just trade Sosa. Hes an 18 million dollar 6th year option on his contract if he is traded. So the the Cubs would have to eat a huge chunk of that contract ot move him

I agree he needs to go, but I see him staying one more year then becoming a free agent. If the cubs don't trade him they have the choice of the option. If they do trade him Sosa has the choice on the option. I think they should let him sit on the bench all year then let him go!

If he is not gone this situation will be a huge distraction the whole season. Supposedly Kerry Wood took a baseball bat to his boom box on the last day of the season when he was AWOL, and Mark Prior called for a Sosa apology to the team. If he is still a CUB and does not come clean with his teammates and manager this could get real ugly.

Who'd want Sosa ? The only way is if The Cubs eat his salary, then maybe someone would send prospects.

I heard on ESPN RADIO today that BELTRAN wants a 10 year contract from somebody....are The Cubs gonna do that?..is anyone ?

somebody is going to. Somebody will pick up Sosa, from reports about 8 teams are interested. 10 year deal is unreal, but now a days, who cares, people always break out of contracts anways, what would it matter.

Today's LA Times has the Cubs & Dodgers talking about swapping Shawn Green for Sosa. Both right fielders would have to drop their no trade clauses.

Chicago Tribune now reporting the Green trade rumor along with the Cubs sending Sosa to the Mets in a deal involving Floyd.

Sun Times is reporting it as well. I'd eat the $5 million to get him outta there. Hendry is not stupid. This is a done deal. He is gone from Chicago. All that does is then free up money to go get Beltran who is interested in coming to Chicago or possibly Renteria.

Either way....just get him out!

Local radio hinting now that he may be staying. Hendry was giving that impression while doing interviews.

We'll see.

All things being equal (which of course they are not with the contract) Are the cubs a better team Without Sammy Sosa?

I am a lifelong cub fan and Sosa has been awesome but I'm afraid this may be a case of addition by subtraction.

I also wouldn't rule out the Expos getting sosa as a ticket draw - that is if they get an owner and end up in Washington!
