Homer!

:joke:

Looks good! Cowboys are done for the season. The over in all Dallas games should be good for the rest of the season as well.

Good luck, RAYMOND.

Agree strongly with Cryboy, and with you on the boys Raymond. Parcells threw the gauntlet down last week. Testis-verde, and Keyhole et. al. beat there chests, and the rest is history. Nobody believes in Dallas anymore. Not coaches players fans nor towel-boys. Cowgirls may not score. Playing under on this one too.

You?ve got the Redskins with double-revenge incentive from last season, and off an embarrassing home loss. You?ve got them with double-digit points, after they have been from ?3 to +3.5 in all other games. You?ve got them when world has given up on them. Yet you?ve got them with a new QB, who played last season, when all other games this season were with Mark Brunell, a QB who didn?t play last season. Creaky, rusty guy. Patrick Ramsey, his replacement, has guts. He absorbed a lot of hits in the Spurrier offense last season. He has the respect of his teammates for having been there, whereas Brunell was losing respect after every bad performance.

You also have them when Eagles? head coach Andy Reid is preparing against Joe Gibbs and a different Washington staff for the first time, off a short week (because Philly played on Monday Night). You also have them when Philadelphia has had distractions during the week in the wake of that Monday Night intro thing with Terrell Owens, who actually missed a practice to deal with it in a press conference.

You also have the Redskins when Eagles? DT Corey Simon is out, further weakening an already soft run defense that is about to face Clinton Portis left, right and in between. Punt returner Rino Mahe is also out for Philly, forcing starting DB Lito Sheppard into double-duty that will hurt Philly starting field position, and/or tire him out for pass coverage.

Eagles Notes | Simoneau status still unclear
The Eagles' linebacker picture still isn't clear for tomorrow's game against the visiting Redskins. Neither Mark Simoneau (concussion) nor Nate Wayne (hamstring) practiced yesterday. Both are considered game-day decisions. Wayne is listed as doubtful; Simoneau is questionable.

IT ISN'T official - not yet anyway - but keeping Clinton Portis from reaching his third career 1,000-yard rushing season tomorrow probably will have to be done without Mark Simoneau.

The Eagles linebacker, who suffered a concussion against Dallas Monday night in the third quarter, did not practice yesterday and will be a game-day decision.

Adding to the problem is that Nate Wayne, who did practice, still is recovering from a pulled hamstring and also will be a game-day decision.

On the official injury report, Simoneau is listed as questionable and Wayne doubtful.

All of which means that the stakes for the Eagles' run-challenged defense are high, considering that the 3-6 Washington Redskins are a desperate team with a solid ground threat and a young quarterback in Patrick Ramsey to rally the team and take some of the heat off of Portis.

"We look forward to the challenge of playing the Redskins," coach Andy Reid said after yesterday's shortened practice. "We know they're going to come in here and give us their 'A' game and we're preparing ourselves for that and we look forward to the challenge."

Portis, sixth in the league in rushing, already has 891 yards on 221 carries this season and needs only 109 more yards to reach 1,000. To keep him from doing that, the Eagles will have to move players around and bring someone up from special teams, creating possible problems in that department.

"Not very comfortable," was what defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said when asked how he felt about the linebacker situation.

Ike Reese and Keith Adams are the most likely candidates to move up, though Adams suffered a sprained ankle Monday and his status remains unclear. Adams practiced yesterday and is listed as probable.

Reese is a capable fill, but it will leave a problem on special teams, Johnson said.

"The thing that hurts a lot of times is those guys help [coach John Harbaugh] on special teams, so that's the biggest situation we have," Johnson said, noting that he'd be "more comfortable" if Reese and Adams could stick with just playing weakside linebacker and avoid special teams. "But I know these guys have to help on special teams, too."

One answer could be to bring a player up from the practice squad, Johnson said.

"There are things I'd like to do, but it's out of my hands," Johnson said. "We might not know until [today] or Sunday. I don't know. We might have to piecemeal a little bit. Maybe all three will be ready and we kind of just rotate them little bit. We'll see."

While the defensive situation remains uncertain, one thing that's not at issue is the team's resolve. To a player, any mention of not being up to the challenge posed by a division opponent was dismissed with attitude.

"They are a good team regardless of the record," defensive tackle Hollis Thomas said. "They have a great running game, and they have three or four really good receivers, and they have a good young quarterback who can sling that thing.

"And their defense is playing great right now, so it's going to be a hard-fought game. You can't take them lightly, especially because it's a division game."

The answer, according to defensive tackle Darwin Walker, is just to go with the moment.

"The adversity is always there, you just take it game-by-game, step-by-step, play-by-play," Walker said. "Coming off of a [short week] is just part of the adversity."

Other injuries

Reno Mahe (high ankle sprain) remains in a hard cast and on crutches and will not play. Dexter Wynn is expected to fill in returning punts. Defensive end Jerome McDougle (knee sprain) is out. Defensive tackle Corey Simon (groin) and right guard Jermane Mayberry (calf strain) both practiced but are listed as questionable.

Talk about lack of respect. All this Pittsburgh team does is win and win convincingly. Yet the public continues to doubt Bill Cowher's team. The Steelers completely beat the crap out of the undefeated Patriots and Eagles and then last week opened up as the 6 point choice at Cleveland. The public pushed that number down to 3 1/2 not believing that Pittsburgh could continue the run. The Steelers then went out and buried Jeff Garcia and the Browns at the Dawg Pound.

Now Pittsburgh travels to Cincinnati, and after opening up as the 5 1/2-point chalk, the public is at it again beating this number down to around 4. Everybody continues to believe that Pittsburgh is not for real, but if you look at them, they truly are a complete team.

This run is not a fluke. Ben Roethlisberger may be a rookie, but the guy is great. He has a stellar running game with the oft-injured Deuce Staley and the "Bus", Jerome Bettis, who is on fire with his 10 touchdowns and back-to-back 100+ yard outings in place of the injured Staley. The receivers are great with Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress and other playmakers including the athletic Antwaan Randle-El. And then on defense, Cowher has his guys going ballistic as they fly to the ball.

This team is excellent and there is no reason to believe why it will be anything different today against an on-again, off-again Bengals' squad.
